Jordan Hill Likely Part Of Lakers' Extended Plans
May 07, 2012 10:19 AM EDT

Jordan Hill has become a huge part of the Lakers' success and has recorded three double-doubles in six games as a regular member of the rotation.

"It's not surreal to me," Hill said. "I can definitely do it. I can definitely rebound, get putbacks [and] whenever I need to score I can definitely do it."

Hill will become a free agent this offseason, but the Lakers will almost certainly try to re-sign him.

"Being a free agent, anything can happen," Hill said. "I'm just trying not to focus on that right now. I'm just trying to focus on this ring. It will definitely feel great to have a ring on my finger and after the season, we'll go from there."

How about Corey Brewer who could not crack the deep deep MDA rotation - he's looking great for Denver.

That's what I suspect too. The problem with him was always with his lack of effort. It was wierd, when we drafted him, his reputation was that he had a great motor, but somewhere between college and the nba, he lost it.

There was that report of a practice session which had Hill vs Darko, and it was described as "the lowest intensity" practice the journalist had ever seen. Also, he was in D'Antoni's dog house, and usually the only way to get into that is laziness and lack of effort.

On the Rockets, his stats seemed to be pretty good, but he seemed to keep getting his minutes and role cut- don't know what the story was there. Now he's doing well- it could be the environment he's in now, or it could just be due to it being contract time- some writer said the only thing Jordan Hill is interested in is money. I guess we won't find out for sure til next season.

It would have been nice to start out with a coach who actually communicates - I am sure that would not have hurt him.

You can't rebuild using the draft...

if you always trade away your draft picks.

I agree. Also there have been a lot of reports of low intensity practices in general from the previous coach. Also, I don't think pointing out that the Knicks gave away the 7th pick in the draft because the coach couldn't be bothered developing him shows that you have an agenda. Blowing or giving away 7th picks set franchises back a lot. Not finding time for the franchises lottery pick to play and develop when your team is losing at an incredible rate, not playing for a pick or the playoffs and instead sending out haggard marginal vets that will be gone the following season because of the plan to free up cap to sign two stars should have gotten him fired. D'Antoni was pretty inept during his tenure in NY but the year that he damaged the franchise the most was his second year. The sh@t that went on and was excused by so many that year still pisses me off.

Its always cool when you hit the jackpot on a 1/1000 shot. And yes. It is cool.

Its also a real pisser that we messed up so bad on Hill.

Its also sad that Corey Brewer did not help us last year when we were desperate because he was perceived to be as not good as Jordan Hill.

Thinking is clearly not your strong suite.

I agree about Brewer. I think someone made a case that Brewer's contract was part of the issue in keeping him.
