Original Trade:

Melo and Chauncey
for
Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler, Timofey Mozgov

Chauncey - Blew out his knee at 34 yrs old. Luckily we turned him into Tyson Chandler.
Gallinari - Extended for 4 yrs at 40 million. Currently averaging 16 pts, 6 rbs, and 1 ast on .375 FG% and .250 3P% versus the Lakers. STUD!
Felton - Traded by Denver to Portland and now sitting at home watching the playoffs.
Chandler - Injured again for the summer
Mozgov - Glued to the Denver bench. Denver had so much confidence in him they traded for McGee.

Oh and Anathony Randolph collecting splinters in Minny.

We may be better off with the trade but you could easily add:

Melo - Getting swept in the first round for the 2nd straight year
Knicks - 6th highest payroll in the league. Longest playoff losing streak in NBA history. Deeply flawed roster.

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

Don't forget Amare. He shouldn't be allowed to use injury as an excuse.

True, also Denver is not paying 18 millions to a guy who was no moving them foward, WE ARE.
And Denver still have to collect a couple of first round picks from us in the near future.

Playing the best team in the NBA with a depleted roster and most importantly no PG to break down the offense and get Amare & Melo to play together somewhat

At least with melo on the team it is almost guaranteed those picks will not be lottery picks.

Minnesota is racking up lottery picks too. They look posed to do damage in the playoffs.

Wait...they arent in the playoffs.

Minny is racking up lottery picks in hopes of getting lucky or packaging them for a real star to team with Love.

I didn't like the Melo Trade but he was the best player on that trade. The problem with the trade was Knicks as a "Team" lost it flexibility. Simple as that.

Yes, but I thought we traded them for a reason, which still not shows in our team.

OK, so that means that Minny still have the assets to make a move, WE DON"T.
But What excatly Minny has to do with NY?

So we are esstentially the same team we were with no flexibility at all. Tyson didn't come here because of Melo, he was on his way to Golden State this was the better option.

If we added Tyson to the team we had last year with shumpert we would be better than we are now.

How so? We likely wouldnt even be in the playoffs.

Amare played like pure **** the first half of the season.

With Felton here we would have likely never signed Lin.

Wilson Chandler would still be in China too.

And Gallo would be Gallo.

Making the playoffs and getting your ass kicked is a real accomplishment. So we would have a draft pick in the lottery to get better with. We should have been the fourth seed by default this year, but Melo decided he was going to be an ******* because he wasn't getting his 25 shots.

i always wanted melo but i didnt want to trade all of those assets when we could of just signed himas FA. I mean we all know he wanted to be a Knick so why couldnt he just wait this way we could have used those assets for a Chris paul or a Dwight Howard

I doubt Wilson Chandler would have gone to China if he was still a Knick in the offseason; he loved this team so much.
And Felton was really happy here as well, I think the Knicks would have made the playoff this year because most of those players really complement each other very well (complemented STAT as well) the chemistry between them was also good.

I believe this too, and I really don’t understand how this is possible considering that we have two legitimate All Stars.

Annibus......

The wildcard might be the draft picks not just Your boy Gallo.

Then, as now I think you gotta give it 5 years to look back.

Year one we were projecting .500 or better and would have made the playoffs without Melo. Swept.
Year two we are no better.

Now if you talking the future thats a different story.

I think your looking at the pieces looking to make yourself feel better and boster your MeloLove.

The bottom line is Denver is rebuilding on the fly without stars and have great flex and draft picks.

All the while, they are no better but more important, NOT WORSE doing so.

Thats the direction they wanted to go. They felt like Melo was a star they could/did not want to pay and perhaps felt they would never win a championship with.

Year two they are in the playoffs again and they traded their star for what you percieve was less than full value.

Nobody is crying over AR being in Minny. At least teh Darko cries are done.

Where are "They Now"? Funny, about the same place we are.

So the question is, was it really worth it?

Heck, if we added those two to a team with David Lee, Zach Randolph, and Jamal Crawford, we'd be a perennial 1st or 2nd round team.
Year 2 of the Melo trade. Where are they now?
