Several reports have stated that injuries are pretty much the same this year as any other year. Just seems like there are more because more games are missed since more games are played each week, but the actual number of injuries is the same.

Maybe somewhat.

More likely guys didnt prep properly in the summer due to the lockout.

You could say that about some guys but I don't think Shump was one of those guys. He has a tremendous work ethic and during the lockout there were a lot of article written about his workouts.

The refs injured Shump, didn't they? That was the impression I got from the game thread.

Either that or one of the Heat players flopped onto his knee.

With Rose, I think the blame lies more with the medical staff- even he has complained about them (and so did Deng). First his back plays up, then his groin, then his ankle- these were all warning signs. The reason the Suns staff are so successful are that they look at prevention, and realise that one injury, can lead to a player over working another part of their body to compensate, so they work at monitoring and trying to rectify areas where the player might be over compensating.

All of Roses injuries stem from his back issues- I think the Bulls kept rushing him back too soon, and it just led to a further injury due to him over compensating and being out of balance. Yeah, bad luck played a part of it too, but I think it could have been prevented.

amount of injuries the same this yr as any other yr? well that means there ARE more injuries this yr because there are less games this season. another words if you compare a regular season to a shortened one with less games and there are the same amount if injuries, that means the schedule is the culprit no?

I'm assuming the reports mean the same *rate* of injuries.

I guess the real figure would be the "% per game".

I don't know that number. If there are 20 % less games and the same injury then its apparent injury up "20%"

Both Shump and Rose both had injury problems this season. Both are young men and bodies adapting to the rigors of the game. Especially Shump. Lin also was victom to basically being an "In shape role player" to suddenly getting starters minutes in a compressed season. Perhaps he was not ready but how does one really prepare for "linsanity"!

Some players needed off season rehab like Amare did and I don't know why he did not seek out the proper treatment. We don't know if the Knick staff laid out a plan for him before the lock out and if they did was he able to follow thru.

When the lock out ended the players agreed to the compressed schedule but some I suppose were not really prepared.

I think with Shump and rose like most injuries you over compensate when dealing with pain and that puts stress in other areas.

The "Sample" needs to be built from the ground up.

Until it gains significant size
