Let's hope Berman is making this up too...

Knicks interim coach Mike Woodson and Isiah Thomas met for dinner Tuesday night in Westchester, hours after Glen Grunwald got promoted as the permanent executive VP/GM, according to sources.

Woodson, Thomas and Grunwald were all teammates on the Indiana University basketball club for three seasons. Thomas, fired by Florida International earlier this month, is seeking employment and has lobbied hard with owner James Dolan to try to get back to the Knicks in some capacity.

Woodson and Thomas were with their wives and could be seen chowing down on Italian food and wine at Serafina in White Plains. Thomas has kept his residence in Purchase and has been there since getting the boot. Woodson has been friends with Thomas a long time and will always be. Thomas also may have insight into the Heat, as Thomas has worked in Miami for three years.

“I’m not commenting on that,” Woodson of the dinner. “I’m entitled to eat with whomever I want to eat with.’’
The Post has reported Dolan keeps a friendship with Thomas but is not inclined to hire him in an official capacity. Thomas, Grunwald and Woodson had a dinner in Miami in late January before the Heat game, though several other Knick staffers attended.
At the time, Woodson told The Post, “You’re talking about 30 years of friendships there. Isiah had an off day from his team. We had to go get dinner. It was nice.’’

* Jeremy Lin did light shooting and running drills but looked ginger in moving around and testing his surgically repaired knee. Woodson said he still thinks Lin can get back to action by the second round, but it would be hard to imagine Lin being effective thrown into the playoff cauldron after being out six weeks.
“He’s starting to smell the gym a little more,’’ Woodson said. “It’s great. I asked him yesterday how he felt after running. He felt pretty good. But we have to put him through drills where he’s cutting and his knee is not swelling up and he’s not physically sore.’’
Asked a best-case scenario, Woodson said, “I like to think if we’re able to get out of the first round, he should be ready for the second round I think . . . He’s got to come to us and say he’s confident.’’

* Mike Krzyzewski was in the Garden scouting for the U.S. Olympic Team. He s expected to tab Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler from the Knicks. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin are candidates from the Clippers.

Isiah will be back eventually. Anyone acting like it's a coincidence Grunwald and Woodson are both with the Knicks is crazy.

Isiah does not need to come back - he never left.

You guys need to get over the Isiah hate. If the dude comes back, it will be as a glorified scout or consultant. It is not like he is going to get the GM job back. People are blowin this out of proportion. Truthfully, isiah was decent at finding college talent. He might do well in that role.

I agree. Perhaps he can help in the draft. Oh chit! We don't have draft picks.

wow, so every time someone affiliated with the Knicks is seen with Isiah, the conspiracy theorists come out. Give it a rest.
the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Can't kill Woodson for this. I believe they were Indiana teammates (Or at least have the same Indiana connections) and they are probably friends. Whether we like it or not, Woodson is allowed to be friends with who he wants whether it hurts our feelings or not.

If they bring Isiah back, that's a different story. I don't think they will, personally. That would be a public relations nightmare.

As terrified as I am of an Isiah comeback, this is completely overblown. Mike Woodson and Isiah Thomas are friends and, like he says in the article, Mike Woodson is entitled to eat with whomever he wants to eat with.

I think it's more amazing that he didn't include Stephon's thoughts on this non-story.

Isiah paranoia much.

The guy was an Indiana alum along with Woody and Grunwald. They're friends. Thomas is friends with Dolan, but no longer has any capacity with the Knicks.

Or does he.

This thread and story just ruined my lunch.

Dolan will find a way to get a guy who cost him millions, who can't get out of his own way professionally, who obviously can't coach his way out of a garbage can with no bottom and no lid.

And if IT is so great at the college talent thing, why did he get fired by a third rate junior college program?

Sorry, the history and the negatives and that giant monstrous putrid ego outweigh anything he might do come draft night.
