I notice in the Raptor game that Nazzy mostly stays out near the 3-point line, shouldn't he as a Center stay near and inside of the paint. This was driving my father and I nuts while watching the game, his range is not that well that he should stay that far from the paint. Nazr does this on D also, not protecting the middle.

Can anyone shine some light on this issue?

On the D, he is staying with the other team's C. If the other guy is standing at the 3pt line, (and Bosh has a decent outside shot when he is on), Mohammed has to be there with him.

On offense, he setting picks and not cloggin up the lane for Marbury and TT. He has no postgame, so there is no reason for him to be in the block. Also, notice that good rebounders run in from uptop to the basket to get the board, especially on offense.

Finally, the fact that Nazi got 18 boards clearly means he is not drifting, and is in the paint when he needs to be there.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Just one thing about his post game...he looked like he was a pretty good presence on offense in the paint during the 76ers

We have been allowing a lot of dunks to cutters and big men in our last few games. Nazr's interior D presence is lacking and he's a little slow to rotate. This is mostly because of the fact that he's still getting used to playing with the Knicks and adjusting to schemes IMO. One thing about him is that he is not a threat to block shots, and therefore teams will drive a bit more on us. What you're seeing I think is the major contrast between him and Mutombo. Still, Nazr is mobile and can play his man one on one pretty well. He can also guard a center that takes it outside far better than Mutumbo. So therefore, their skills on D complement each other pretty well.

On offense, he hits the offensive boards often, and boxes out well. He gets a lot of garbage points that way. He can also finish inside and go up quickly after a nice Marbury pass...a big plus. He also seems to have a decent hook. Kareem should work on him with that. If he develops a 10 foot face up he will be a much bigger threat.

He looks like like 13 and 10 guy like Jamaal Magloire of the Hornets.

Pretty decent answers I just needed to understand some of the methods to his madness.
