Winning these next 4 games is the difference between possibly getting past the first round and getting Lin back in the playoffs vs Chi or Miami or Boston for a punchers chance at the ECC.

Lin, Shump, Melo, Amare, Chandler anything can happen if we get our full lineup in.

Lose one game would realistically eliminate all those possibilities. Orlando hopefully does there part and loses out. But big breaks like these(Howard being out) are usually when magic happens.

I don't see us beating Chi or Miami in the first rd without Lin. But if we can get him back for the second rd then I would have more faith in that match up.

Lin was shut down against Miami and the game was closer without him this past Sunday..but I agree, we do need Lin back. We'll be alright though

Miamis entire game plan was shutting down Lin and Melo wasn't playing well at this time and neither was Amar'e. We had no shot in hell in that game against Miami. We'd have a much better chance if those 2 were actually playing well and we have Lin back.

I don't pay attention to anything Pre coach woody. MDA did not adjust to the heat. If you know Lin has trouble with constant pressure while dribbling why would you not send him help while he is bringing it up rather than leave him to do it solo everytime. How many points did they get from that alone? Lin is also the only player besides melo that constantly looks to drive to the hoop. JR does the fake drive to a stepback and Shump does not do it enough, everyone else is a jump shooter.

True, I forgot about him since he has been gone for so long. The only problem with Amare and driving to the hoop is that he is not to good of a passer. He is a willing passer but does not always see the open man.

Yeah but making it to the 2nd round would actually be an accomplishment. I know one poster (forget who) asked whether we should just rest key players now that we've made the playoffs or should go all out for the 6th seed. We have to do the latter. If we play Miami or Chicago in the 1st round, our players will most likely get all the rest they need soon anyway.

Looks like they choose the former . They played the game to not get injured and didn't care about the 6th seed.

Who is "they"? I didn't see last nights game, was driving back fro Columbus to Toledo. Sounds like Woody wasn't happy about the effort. Are you suggesting the players decided to throw the game or the coach was involved as well?

I am not terribly upset with the choice, our path to the sixth seed ends with the Magic winning just one game and it would mean we would have to play at a frantic pace and risk injuries etc for a low probability outcome. I am not sure that they deliberately made the choice though, chances are this was just another bad game, for a disappointing injury riddled season.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

Don't know just assumptions but they played with no effort on defense or rebounding. They played soft like the only goal was to not get injured.

They always struggle with the cavs and Melo never seems to play well against Jamison. They also for the first time were not playing just to get into the playoffs. They have played great and had a letdown game. It sucked and was a game they needed but getting the 6th seed was only a remote possibility.

Getting to the sixth seed would have been great, it would have gave them a chance to play a lessor seed and get familiar with playoff hoops before they run into the Heat or the Bulls...But that's all gone almost and it's time to see what we really have...Is Woody really the coach we think he is, we gonna find out earlier instead of later...Are JR and Novak keepers or not...I wanted to see Lin in the playoffs as well but that's ok...Can Melo make others better in the playoffs??...Can our defense step up in the playoffs??...It's here, let the players get mentally ready the last few games...It's on earlier than later....
