Papabear Says

D'Antoni had a player like Carmelo and for years he was lighting up Denver. Melo is a star. In this league now the players are different and you have to treat each player different. Lin got his break and the players was doing very well and Lin caught teams off guard. It whould have been a matter of time before he got shut down without Melo ball. From the begining D'Antonio insisted on the team playing fast ball and he knew that was not Anthony's game. When Linsanity caught on everyone was out to destroy Melo. Instead of D'Antoni playing to Anthony's strenth he dogged Lin into the ground. This was Melo's team from the begining and D'Antoni tried to sell Melo a bag of goods that was not him. D'antoni thought it was all about him. He could care less about defense. He had guys shooting 3s that couldn't hit the side of a barn or house 5 feet away. It was this that did him in. Was it so hard for him to bend and let Melo do his thing and hold him accountable on defense?? Now he is gone and looking for another place to play fast ball that will never get him a championship.

Isn't there enough of these threads. People need to let it go I mean even D'antoni haters keep bringing him up. he's gone our team is doing well and we have a defensive minded coach why are we still bringing up a guy who is gone?

"Was it so hard for him to bend and let Melo do his thing and hold him accountable on defense??"

Yes it was, because Melo tuned him out and when a player shuts down, there's only so much a coach can do. Woodson is able to tap into whatever it is that's making this knick team play hard now(it's about time).

but let's face it, this team dogged it in the final days of D'Antoni.

Amare has "dogged it" defensively since he got here. The first games he played for Woody before he got hurt was the first time I saw get his ass out to trap a pick!!

Teams eventually will under perform if the coach loses respect of the team.

D'Antony should go back and coach Euroball.
He needs a bunch of soldiers running his sets and busting their arse and defending because of the culture not because of the pressure from the coach.
The NBA as it is now is not for him.

MDA is getting his *full* salary, can sit on the beach, and no longer has to work for Dolan. I'm sure he's not unhappy.

Unless Melo and the rest of the team change things ASAP, non-Knick fans will remember that MDA has achieved more in the playoffs than anyone on this roster not named Tyson Chandler, and he'll walk away from this with the intact legacy.

Bip had the best take on the situation. Basically the Management was already moving on and looking to go in another direction. If you have a coach that isn't in sync with the GM then it's not gonna work. For the brief times that the roster fit what MDA likes to do, the team looked good. However, that didn't happen for any long period of time. MDA put a happy face on it, but you know he didn't want to have to go into a season with TD as his only real option at PG. Who would? Melo and MDA never really had a real love for each other and it showed. Now the GM and Coach and star player are all on the same page and things look good for the future. That's all that matters in the end. If you want to win you have to have some level of cooperation from top to bottom. This team can really have a chance to prosper without the drama.

hahaha - I don't think so (in Jerry Seinfelds voice). If 15-5 aint changing things then I don't know what "things" are. Knick fans don't give a damn what did not do for the Knicks (Thats for you BasketballJones).

He is not happy not is happy is, clearly.

If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.
