Think we have a shot at any of these for the LLE or vet minimum???

I'm hoping we can use the LLE to keep Novak around.

We need a grass roots movement to get Novak back next year.

I can't believe that sorry excuse for an NBA player name Kwame Brown is worth 6.8 millions. I wouldn't spend a towel boy salary on him. SMH.

I think our big 3 would restructure their contracts to keep this team together

I wouldn't mind switching Bibby or TD out with Jamaal Tinsley. I've always liked that guy. Andre Miller too (talk about a capable back up). But I'm hoping we keep most of our players with a couple of exceptions. And maybe we should send Jerome Jordan down to the D-league another year to polish the hard edges of himself and then replace him with a more capable 4/5. Amundson always seemed like a hardworking 4 with a pretty good head on his shoulders. Or that's at least how I remember him.

Smith has a player option for next season I thought for $2.5mil.

What is our cap space? I thought if we give Lin $5mil that pretty much does it.

I think we can keep novak but we'll lose smith.

I would love to keep Lin, Novak, JR Smith, Jared Jeffries while adding a FA caliber player like Dragic, Nash, KG, with the MLE.

While acquiring some role players like
Greg Stiemsma
AK47
Sundiata Gaines
Gerald Green
Pietrus
Shannon Brown

Odom
Greg Oden
Camby

Delonte West
Redd
Delfino
Anthony Parker

if Melo Amare and TC, are willing to restructure their deals, of course we would have to give add back more years on their deals to make up for it.
So we can continue to keep our core of Lin, role players, and/or continue to acquire talent to with our MLE, LLE, bringing us another step closer to being contenders.

Thing we don't know is if by doing this, do we go under the cap again, therefore losing the MLE again?

Amare
However, if we were to trade him in the off season, I don't see how any team would give us much more than an expiring deal, like Rashard Lewis/Elton Brand...
Or a combination of not very good deals, with 1 serviceable player...
Unless he was packaged with Lin, which I can't see Dolan, being a business man will allow with all the attention/sales/ and $ would lose.

I can see Amare giving up in the range of 3-5m, for an extra 2 years added to his contract, not sure will it be worth it...
Melo and TC giving up 1-3m for an extra year on their contracts....

While I realize there are other shooters available other than Novak, I would love to keep him because he doesn't take bad shots and plays within his limits....
He has never earned a good contract, while this might be his last chance to earn a good contract, so I don't expect any major discounts.

JR Smith is well worth the 2.5m exemption, it is unlikely, that he will not opt out of it for a longer deal...

I know the season isn't over yet and how we play during the playoffs can make a difference and change slight change of heart...
If things go well, it's possible we can get a slight discount to retain the main core....

There's no way to keep Lin and Novak and sign one more guard? I was really hoping we could do all of that.

The best thing to do is buy draft picks. Get a guy like Jeff Taylor or Kris joseph. You also need to find a pg. I think Ny need a speed pg, someone who can push the ball up the floor. Also, another thing is there will be some other players on the FA market due to the Amnesty clause which could be got for cheap. I think this summer is the last summer so teams have to do something. A Mo. Williams might not be a bad option as a bench guy.

I agree. We should be using our financial advantage to buy 1st round picks. We should come out with 2 to 3 each year, or 25 per decade, which would give us a huge advantage. That is not Dolan's style though.

We can't anymore. In the new CBA there's a rule that you can only trade $3M per year, instead of per trade like it used to be.

Why do some believe Novak is going to demand big money?

The guys defense is pretty bad and he is just a 3 pt specialist. Knicks just need to give him a multi-year guaranteed minimum deal.

SEASON TEAM SALARY POSITION
2010 Dallas Mavericks $ 915,852 Forward
2009 Los Angeles Clippers $ 797,581 Forward
2008 Los Angeles Clippers $ 797,581 Forward
2007 Houston Rockets $ 687,456 Forward

Gerald Green
