I wanted to start a sort of game thread where we can talk about any of the games for the Celtics or Sixers. Even perhaps the race for 6th seed.

I'm watching the Celtics against the Nets and the Nets are playing harder than the C's, but they haven't played smarter nor are they getting a good whistle. Still the Nets are currently winning. I think the C's are trying to conserve energy early and hope to mount a late surge like they tried last night.

Bostons age is catching up with the, sure they had a very good run the last few weeks but i think that took a lot out of them

Ray Allen isn't playing tonight. Petrus is getting minutes. Deron Williams with a dumb play with the ball at the end of the quarter he goes too early and throws an uncatchable bounce pass. They give the C's the ball with 5.8 left. Rondo didn't score but it's dumb stuff like that, that has kept the Nets from being up big.

I don't know what Deron's mental attitude is, but if the Nets were a smarter team BB wise, they'd be killing the Celtics.

KG is back in and they've been going to him every time down the floor and he's scoring on Johan Petro. Petro for his part has actually been playing hard. He even scored a couple himself going back at KG. Still the C's had nothing until KG started going off. I don't know how long he'll be able to keep this up tho.

Deron's mental attitude is that he's a bum.

How can a guy clash with Coach Sloan?

Having watched Deron, I can't say that I like his disposition on the floor. If it's even possible to say, he plays like a jerk.

That's said, the Nets are experimenting with Marshon Brooks at the point with mixed results. I few too many forced passes into traffic. Kind of looks like Shump at the point. Not terrible, just not very good. Doc is really trying to spread his roster out in terms of KG, Rondo and Pierce. He's going long stretches with those guys resting. If the Nets were even just a little better they'd be blowing them out.

Deron is one of those dudes (cue misterearl: "what chew mean, 'one of those'"). It's what Deron does. Look, it's never good when a guy has to rock a headband to drop buckets; yea, that includes Walton.

I'll give him this, he's not working with much, but he's a little too full in the balls given the wackness of his team.

Deron is kind of a sourpuss. He just gives off an attitude. Some guys play and you can see the joy>

WOW as i'm typing this Gerald Green puts up a wild 3 to close the 1st half. Tied at 48. The Nets are not playing well, but they've been playing hard. If they're gonna win, Deron is gonna have to take control. He's been trying to set up his young teammates to only so, so success. The C's are still in it, cuz they have Pierce and KG taking most of the shots and they've also gotten some lucky breaks. Doc has really gotten by with conserving minutes only cuz the Nets are so bad at executing smart plays.

As expected the C's came out with high energy and have been getting TONS of breaks from the refs. Avery just got a tech for complaining. It is obvious tho that they are letting the C's get away with stuff. C's up 5 now. Nets have to regain composure or they'll fall behind fast.

C's are the old baby in the league. It's their last push, gotta give them the calls out of respect for their body of work.

Nets just play dumb. They could easily have taken the C's early on, but they don't have enough experienced players to do that. The C's are a very disciplined team and they have very solid talent up and down the roster. Nets are throwing the ball all over the place and not playing smart D. C's just picking them apart. Nets will have to have an amazing 4th qtr to pull out the win down 74-61. Not that the C's are playing great, just bad play from Nets.

That all starts with the point guard

Deron has done no leading at all. Nets missing shot after shot. They actually had 2 consecutive plays for Humphries jumpers. The Nets just haven't been able to score even off open looks. It's not like the C's are playing at their highest level defensively. It's sad, but to be expected I guess. Nets rolling over and not giving a darn.

Knicks have to focus on winning their games regardless of what Boston does, cuz they can catch the Magic if they just win their games. I don't think the Magic will be playing for much with D Howard out.

Can't expect the Nets to do the Knicks any favors. Wouldn't be surprised if they purposely tanked this game

Pierce turns ankle. It doesn't look serious, but you never know.
