Well, it seems Amar'e is inching closer to his return, he had a scrimmage with a few other Knicks on Thursday, did shoot around yesterday and has been cleared for contact and will be taking part in practice today. Here's how Al Iannazzone said he and Shump looked on his twitter:

Just got in practice/walk through: Amare is shooting with the Knicks. So is Shumpert.

Shumpert is moving well, without a limp. But they're just shooting, not scrimmaging.

Shumpert will play tomorrow

Amar'e playing 4 on 4 right now. He's moving well

Amar'e remains out for tomorrow. Next week, maybe Tuesday or Wednesday, is looking good provided no setbacks.

As for Lin:

"He's doing fine," Woodson said. "He got his stitches out yesterday and he's just increasing his therapy work. Where he is in terms of coming back, it's somewhere down the road. It won't be anytime soon."

Sounds a long way off- doubt we'll see Lin until next season. A shame, as he's the player we need the most.

I wouldn't bring Amare back until Wed vs NJ. Like someone else said if you bring him back Tues vs Boston KG will make sure he misses the playoffs. And you don't want to play Amare on a back to back yet

If we are able to get a win tomorrow then I agree. But We do need at least 1 win the next two to have any shot of reaching the 6th spot

Amar'e says he's getting close, and has a new look for his return:

Said:

Training early morning. Clean shave fresh braids. Almost there ...

Looking forward to his return, hope he can give us something. Woodson says he's day to day, Tyson said Amar'e needs a bit more practice to get his rhythm back, Berman says maybe he'll be back this weekend.

Nothing on th Lin front- he's been cycling and swimming, and I think is due to start running on Thursday.

The braids make him grow half an inch, now he's 7 feet!

One thing I do wonder about- remember he put on the weight in the offseason to strengthen his back and prevent re-injuring it? Then he lost the weight because it was hindering him. Sure enough he started playing better, but then he seemed to instantly re-injured his back. Are the two things linked? Did losing the weight weaken his back and lead to the bulging disc? Will he have to play at the heavier weight in future to keep his back strong or are the two things unrelated?
