22. I mean … have you been watching Miami???? Their supporting cast might be worse than it was last year. How is that possible? They played Ronny Turiaf 30 minutes last night. Not a typo. Shane Battier, Mike Miller and Udonis Haslem are sharing one fork for three backs. Chris Bosh has turned into a taller Brandon Bass. And the LeBron/Wade dynamic has never been icier or more dueling banjos-ey; last night in Chicago, they did everything but scream "MY TURN!" like my kids do when they're fighting over the same iPad game. El Heat couldn't look more vulnerable.5 Which leads me to …

23. Right now, the Knicks are trailing Philly by one game for the seventh playoff spot. They feature a suddenly hot scorer (Carmelo's last 10 games: 28.5 PPG) who truly believes he's on the same level as Wade and LeBron, as well as a defensive stopper who knows how to beat them (Chandler), an elite perimeter defender who can defend both Wade and LeBron (Iman Shumpert), and a bloodthirsty crowd that will absolutely, unequivocally show up in full force for Games 3, 4 and 6 (the Knicks fans). It's giving me goose bumps just thinking about it. Imagine the Knicks improbably taking a 3-2 lead home for Game 6, and imagine THAT crowd. On a scale of 1 to the "Boom Goes the Dynamite" Guy, how terrified do you think LeBron will be during crunch time of that game? Even the chance this might happen has me fired up. Let's see it once and for all, LeBron … do you have "it" or not?

31. Most interesting: We're two weeks away from Shawne Williams officially becoming the first player in five years to play 20-plus minutes a game while submitting a PER under 5. The last guy to do it? Jason Collins in his historic 2007 season: 23.1 minutes per game, an astonishing 3.02 PER. To put that doozy in perspective, John Hollinger rigged his PER engine so that you get a 3.5 just for breathing. Anyway, Williams signed an inexplicably lucrative contract with New Jersey ($6.15 million for two years), then stunk the joint out (20.6 MPG, 28.6% FG, 4.96 PER) for 25 games before getting hurt (he had foot surgery), then got traded (to Portland in the Wallace deal), and yes, he's out for the season. Pour some skunked beer on your own head, Shawne Williams. You made history.

Wow a coach who couldn't adjust to maximize his players (if his life depended on it) made a PER 3.5 guy get a $6.15M contract?

Want this team so bad in the first round, not only because there a better match up, but it would bring back the rivarly, it would be good for the NBA, and winning the series would solidfy this knick unit, especially melo and amare who would officially stamp the knick cards

i think shawne williams' contract had more to do with the Nyets wanting to upstage the Knicks than any basketball sense. Shawne is a $1M per year player at best - just found a fit in NY. probably would've been best for his career if he'd signed in NY. if he gets bought out or waived, I'd welcome him back. he plays good D and can shoot the 3 and we might not be able to afford Novak who is probably going to get a big offer from the Nyets when the Nyets lose Deron and have absolutely nothing on their team.

If we get Miami in the first round and send them home...omg, I can't even verbalize what I would feel. The Niagara Falls of endorphins. I would just giggle like a lunatic for days.

From http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/7796225/kobe-bryant-dr-chris-renna-regenokine-knee-treatment

In fact, Sampson argues that Jeremy Lin should have tried PRP therapy for his meniscus tear instead of opting for surgery. While noting that he doesn't have access to all the facts, Sampson describes similar patients who have had the torn flap of cartilage removed. "These athletes can demonstrate full cartilage loss in just three to four months after the operation when returning to sport," he notes. Sampson describes such surgeries as a "band-aid treatment," easing the immediate pain but at the risk of extensive long-term damage. "You've got to consider the entire career," he says.

And that's why Sampson advocates PRP therapy for people in Lin's situation. "A chronic tear has poor blood flow and slowed healing capacity," Sampson wrote in an email. "The PRP injection may stimulate the natural repair of the body with little downtime, at least compared to the surgical option." Of course, such an approach might also have allowed Lin to keep on playing. The treatment would not have ended his season.

Yup.

That article about the PRP treatment that would've allowed Lin to keep playing is intriguing. Whatever alternative that had Lin still playing would've been amazing. We miss Lin a lot, even if our record has been good during his absence. Our offense needs Lin.
