OK, I love it when a thread is fodder for Gallo-clowning. Or, clowning the Melo haters. So I posit a theory:

Part of why I was a Gallo stan was he was a draft pick. Gallo, Special Nate, Jazz Hands D-Lee: that was all we had going for us for a while there. Da yoots, drafted as Knicks. Also a part of Landremonium: second-rounder playing first-round ball.

I almost forgot about the early season Shumpmania that preceded Linsanity (not drafted, but rescued). There was that national game where he seemed totally out of control. But now Shump is back playing under Woodson and has been asked to shore up the hobbled backcourt and he is doing it. After years of our draft picks floating out the door or being wasted, we got a winner here.

Shumpert For Life

When there was little to be excited about on December, and the Knicks were sleepwalking on defense, Shump was figuring it out the hard way. His crazy rookie binge on national tv was him trying too hard, but you gotta start somewhere. Jeremy forced the issue as well. Fortunatly for Lin (and us) the planets aligned and the rest was history.

look at how Shump moves. Every step is choreographed to dominate. His stride is long and his glare is fierce

The layups that rimmed out in December are now works of art

his putback dunks are a warning to bystanders

give that man a jumper and he becomes dangerous in the clutch from any spot on the court

thank you Donnie Walsh

What a parting gift! In a couple years, the Shumpert pick might very well be Donnie's lasting imprint on the Knicks. More so than the Melo trade, if Shump's realizes his amazing skyhigh potential.

SHUMP IS THE NEW GALLO SPREE.
Fixed.

His O is coming along, and he doesn't appear to be developing the sickening shot selection that someone of his athleticism usually tends towards, but it's his D that makes him special.

He's fearless. I honestly believe he'd guard Kobe, Lebron and Wade by himself.

And the glares are priceless.

That was a bigger BS call than the non-call on Rose for jawing at our bench.

In my opinion Shump is in a class of his own. I never seen a rookie on the very first day of training camp take responsibility for guarding Melo and talk trash the whole time with a smile on his face. Shump's confidence is what can make him a special player. When I say special player I don't mean a superstar, I mean a person who will be like Chandler is for us at the center. I think he can be a like a super role player.

Good thread. Being a Gallo admirer, I must say that Shump makes you forget him quickly. The most important thing is that the team is looking good, playing Defense and winning!

In hindsight, the loss of supposed depth that NY gave up has been more than made up this season with JR, Shump, Lin and Novak. Great job by the front office since the draft.

I still think they could use another front court guy.

Shumpert may turn out to be the steal of the draft. He can shoot, he can defend, he is athletic. As he improves his decision making, the sky is the limit.

I can't believe they called a technical foul—and this is in our house! this Ref should be fined

In that video Breen said "It looks like he said something". How can he tell that when the angle is showing the back of his head. It is like when giving a 50% chance at anything happening when dealing with the Knicks breen will always chose the negative. I want Breen to run full speed and jump in the air then let someone grab his arm and pull him down. I bet you he will think it is a flagrant foul then.

I think Breen was reacting to the fact that Shump got a tech, and since he didn't really hang on the rim, the tech must have been because he said something.

Like that.

I love what we have at all 5 positions. Shumpert is the future at the SG. Stoudemire is still a question mark but we have some great young pieces to build with. Lin and Shumpert give this team a great future backcourt. A core of Melo, Chandler, Lin, Shumpert, and Novak off the bench can do big things for the next 5-7 years.

Yeah Breen's been with MSG forever—i remember listening to him when he was only doing WFAN radio back in the day. now he over-criticizes the knicks on every play. by contrast you have Hubie Brown who, on national TV, pretty much roots for the Knicks.

I think Van Gundy called him one of the best perimeter defenders in the league yesterday. He plays balls to the wall all the time.

This is whats up! Our own home grown, draft picked players! But knowing this Owner of ours, if he could package Shump, Lin, Novak, Fields, for DWill, he'd do it, and thats why I can't stand that dude!

JVG also called Novak the best pure shooter before the season started and we are seeing it now that he is getting playing time.
Shump is the new Gallo.
