that would be my plan. Think ahead and go after another 4 (PF) to play the spot.

Knicks don't have draft picks anyway next few seasons, why not go fishing for some eh?

Lets face it Amare Stoudemire isn't going to help Knicks in season 2012/2013

season 2013/2014 and ahead to 2015

Three more seasons? I feel bad for #1 however why not explore shipping him to a nice team for draft picks Knicks dont have eh ?

Throw incentive to absorb some of $$hefty contract to soothe back concerns decline of a young man with skills whom
can help a team 1 or 2 players away.

I'd love to keep Amare but ready to part with his hind cause
Knicks won't be Winning OR losing cause of Amare here. When Knicks can use Amare at any crucial point he cannot help them.
Sad

Somebody should bite the bait & Knicks should reel in some NBA Draft picks. I would not deal Amare for anything else more
than picks & Expiring $$contracts$$ to make deal work.

I thought teams can only send like 3million in cash.

Knicks would have to ship out assets as In a way that is what the receiving team is paying for.

They can then Amnesty. But it still costs them.

Amare will be a Knick until his contract is up. Then the Knicks will bid against themselves and give him another deal.

People keep saying that we don't have any first round picks in the foreseeable future. This simply isn't true. Our top-5 protected first goes to Denver this year, first rounder goes to Denver in 2014, and Denver has the right to swap in 2016. Assuming we don't make any more trades, we'll have a first rounder every year except this year and 2014.

So we have one first rounder (which Dolan will probably trade) in the next 3 years? Does any team in the NBA have fewer in that stretch or are we at the bottom?

Dolan can't trade that pick, it's against NBA rules to trade first rounders in back to back years. I don't think any other teams have fewer picks than us, but there's usually first rounders for sale so we should be able to buy a later one anyway.

Sorry, I meant Dolan will trade the player. I know he can't trade the pick. I agree we should be buying picks but that's not Dolan's approach.

The next time he comes back and hits a very good stretch, he might become tradeable. We definitely won't get much for him though.

We'll have to move him in year 4 or 5 when his expiring contract becomes a trade chip...he's unmoveable now.

He's only a trade asset in those years if you're willing to take back a bad contract.

And when Jordan was 30 he was also a beast. How does that help us?

Thomas and Walsh traded all of the Knicks picks that they could. Dolan was involved in the Melo trade and maybe that first rounder should be attributed to him. Thomas seemed to think nothing of trading picks and Walsh used them to clear cap space for the summer of 2010 (i.e. the McGrady that could bite the Knicks in the @ss if they don't make the playoffs).

I think HOuston has our pick this year and Denver has the 2014 first round pick.

Isiah traded for several picks too, though. Walsh just didn't seem to care about them.

I don't believe there is any rule that would prevent the knicks from becoming an "insurer" for the Amare contract. One the other hand dont t htink the knx are trading him.

If the Knicks miss the playoffs and win the lottery they get to keep that pick this upcoming draft, right? #conspiracytheory.
