So the general consensus seems to be that everyone would be ok with Phil Jackson if he is willing. I'm having a hard time choosing because on one hand you can say say Phil is not going to coach for long and we'll be back to square one when he retires in 3yrs. One the other hand he would get the team playing at a higher level on both ends where Woodson and Thibideau struggle. Let's see how the team finishes the year I guess. I'm very hesitant about replacing Woodson with someone other than Phil. He already has shown the ability to command respect. Something all the coaches since JVG failed miserably at although some of the coaches that came through were dealt a tough hand.
Phil Jackson
Mike Woodson
Tom Thibideau
Jerry Sloan

Phil is a Knick.

Was one before he was the leader of the Bulls.

Phil is the ultimate Starphuch coach.

Not worried about him being "too old" because he is not a player. He is the coach.

Not worried about him staying too long, because he won't. When he is cooked, he'll leave.

Thibs Will get extended with a nice raise.

Phil will be intrigued. Its a long shot.

I don't get the Sloan angle. They guy is older than PHil and can be a bit of a dick. He had a great relationship with his owner which makes for a great run. Had the Layden family (frank and Scotty) and a good culture behind him.

Here is not like that. We have a culture of taking good management talent and undermining them.

I voted Mike Woodson. I would find it very hard to root for Phil Jackson.

They won't spend the dollar to get Phil. Woodson is the pick.

I give it to Woodson, unless he turns it down, or Phil somehow gets full roster control and input too, which I doubt.

You are correct the best thing the Knicks do is throw away money. Phil Jackson is not coming here. Not even a chance. No daughter to offer and no control (see Dolan/Zeke deal for Melo)

Bill Simmons on Tyreke Evans "The prototypical 0-guard: Someone who handles the ball all the time, looks for his own shot, gets to the rim at will and operates best if his teammates spread the floor to watch him."

Mike Woodson gets a lot of love around here. So much love that people are turning down a proven coach with 10 rings to his name.

I could be a proven coach if I had some of the best players to have ever played the game on my team. The Knicks don't have that situation.

YOu don't win without the players.

Look at all the teams that lost in the finals over the years.

They had great players also.

Some good coaches, but they don't have 11 rings in 20 years.

In fact, you have Phil Jax with 11. Red Auerbah with 9, then Riles with 5 (in 24 seasons).......

Look at this list:

http://www.nbauniverse.com/championships/coches_with_titles.htm

You don't win with just great players, but you sure as hell don't even get a sniff if you don't!

Once again, Michael Jordan did not win until his 7th season. Kobe was a punk kid scorer before Phil got into his head.

PHil has a proven track record of making his players better under his guidence.

That is proven.

That is why you get on your horse to Montana with black check and let him fill it out. 3 years 45 million and give him the GM title now and for as long as he wants it.

If your going to starphuch might as well go all in.

Nothing against Woodson BTW.

Now would be a good time to bring up this tweet from Frank Isola:

You know what helps Mike Woodson keep the Knicks job? Win a playoff game and his relationship with, drum roll please, Isiah Thomas

You would get tuned out the second you step on the floor. You don't command the respect of the players. None of Jackson's best players won anything before He got there. Even MJ was seen as a selfish player before Phil made him into an all around player and one of greatest winners to play the game. You don't think Phil can't work with Melo? He will put Melo in Kobe's category easily.
