i don't know if any of you dudes remember a little team called the Giants that won the Superbowl this year. but i do.

one thing i recall is that the last 20% of their regular season had to be played at playoff intensity because the team stuck itself in a do or die position.

a lot of Giants players actually credited the intensity of the final stretch for the ensuing championship campaign.

can the Knicks benefit from the same phenomenon? or is football just that different?

i think the Knicks might be able to carry this intensity into a first round win.

There's a certain quality to the NFL where a team peaking at the right time can really fight and crawl their way into the Superbowl.
In the NBA however, you're facing a long uphill battle consisting of 4 best-of-seven rounds to reach ultimate victory. The playoff setup is so stacked against possible upsets, which is why you rarely see them in the NBA.

There would have to be a lot of factors that fall into place for this... most likely being key injuries to opposing teams.

interesting quote from Jared Jeffries. i did not read this before i made my original post:

"Yes we are going to make the playoffs.... Yeah (we can win a title). I think that with the way this season (is), it's a lot like a football; it's a lot like a hockey season where if a team gets hot at the right time and plays well they can win a championship."

No way, not without Mike D'Antoni at the helm.

We are playing some spirited defense. We could cause some problems, even when half the team is hurt, because we have enough scoring even with half the Team.

Playoff intensity was missing in the 4th.

We really need to be near flawless the rest of the way or we won't have playoff intensity in the playoffs because we won't be there.

Knicks next 3: ORL, CHI, CHI
Bucks next 3: CLE, CHA, POR ALL AT HOME

we have a 1.5 game lead. The Bucks game next week is a must obviously, but now that we lost at Ind tonight we really need 2/3 against ORL and CHI. What a bad loss tonight was. We're in serious trouble now.

It is really nice to have more than one player on the floor who can actually break down a defense!

And Eli is not Melo.

They both have something in common though, the NY fans have killed them relentlessly. There is no bigger Eli fan than me but until he won in 2007, that was the most complained about trade ever and that was not just in NY. And even after he won a SB, he was still killed.

That's a crazy next 3. We're 1.5 up, worst case Bucks win all 3 and we lose all 3: Bucks up 1.5 on us and we're outside, looking through the window of the pet shop.

Probably the likely scenario. I figure if I keep posting Debbie Downer stuff, this scenario somehow won't happen.

Knicks need to get healthy and lucky...They Giants got healthy at the right time towards the end of the season... The Giants also got lucky avoiding playing the Saints...So can the Knicks get healthy???..Can they avoid certain teams in the first round???...We aren't making it easy thus far...
