Ewing should not be talking about any job that has a coach. I understand the guy wants a head coaching gig but I thought the unwritten law was never talk about a particular team. Just say "Im ready to Interview". IM sure Berman egged him on about the Knicks job but he should know better.
Can't blame a guy for trying but JVG handled it very cool. Ewing should know this by now.
I have no idea if he is a good candidate. SVG needs to watch his back. I wonder if he is working Dwight for the gig.
Knicks great Ewing 'ready' for head-coaching job

Knicks legend Patrick Ewing is hoping this time owner James Dolan gives him a shout if he conducts a full-scale coaching search this offseason. The Big Fella said he’s “ready’’ to coach the Knicks — or anywhere.
When the Knicks filled their head-coaching position four years ago with Mike D’Antoni, Ewing didn’t even get a phone call for an interview. Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy has ripped the Knicks for the slight.
“Definitely, I hope so,’’ Ewing told The Post Wednesday night before the Knicks' 108-86 win over the Magic. “My goal is to be a head coach. I hope to get interviews everywhere where there’s a job open. I think [Mike Woodson] is a fine coach. He’s done an outstanding job in the eight games he’s taken over. But any opportunity I get, I’m ready.’’
Arguably the greatest Knicks player of all time, Ewing is in his eighth season as an NBA assistant coach, the last five with Orlando.
Woodson took over for D’Antoni two weeks ago as interim coach, but if he continues to win at the pace he has, he will have a legit shot at the permanent position. Ewing’s first head-coaching interview came last summer with Detroit ownership and general manager Joe Dumars.
The Wizards and Blazers will also be in search of a new coach.
“I hope. I hope,’’ Ewing said about landing a job. “There are already three teams without a head coach. I’m hoping to get an interview with all of them and hope I land one. That’s why I work and study. I’m waiting for the opportunity.’’

Ewing may be likelier to get an interview than Jeff Van Gundy, at the Garden last night for ESPN. Wednesday on the Michael Kay Show on ESPN radio, the former Knicks coach was asked if he wanted the job and Van Gundy said Woodson should get it.
“You know me better than talk about somebody else’s job,’’ Van Gundy said.

Jeremy Lin (knee) is not a lock to play Friday night in Atlanta. Lin wants his knee to be 100 percent so he will not have to deal with it in the playoffs.
