I can't stop thinking how good this guy is. He was worth everything we paid for, he changed the defensive make up of this team. Wow, Howard is the best center in the nba, and yet chandler is able to defend him in single coverage. The guy is a smart defender, imagine what he would be if he just had a single post move. Just 1!
Just wanted to show him some love.

The other person who is playing good D but doesn't get too much love is Baron. He is older and obviously slower but can still defend pretty well. But he makes some real bonehead TD type plays on offense.

Crazy to think that there were people on the forum that wanted to trade Melo and Chandler for Howard.

The only reason that Howard puts up numbers is because the lack of depth at the C position in the NBA. Back in the day of the big man Howard would be nothing special.

That is correct. This would be about a .350 to .400 team without him.

Chandler and Shump are my favorite knicks in quite a while.

I actually get pissed in the post-game when Tina goes up and asks Tyson what he thought about Lin or Melo or Amar'e's game. What about his game, Tina?

Knicks would be nowhere near 5th defensively without Tyson. He makes everyone's job easier, because they know if their man gets by them, it's not an easy layup and there's time to recover. I would love Woodson to name him captain at some point. Or even tr-captain with Amar'e and MElo.

Chandler is the Captain of this team as far as I am concerned.

That, to me, is my favorite part about Tyson Chandler. Obviously, he's a great defender, but the fact that it doesn't matter to him if he scores 1 pt or 12 pts, doesn't matter if he grabs 2 rebounds or 10...the guy is all about the intangibles, the communication, the lockerroom presence. Like Dirk Nowitzki said "Tyson's the best teammate I've ever had".

I agree my 2 favorite knicks as well. As much as I like to watch Melo and Amare play when they are at their best there is something missing in both. With Melo its his personality and with Amare its his total lack of effort on D for his entire career that makes it hard to like them the way I did Ewing, h20, LJ, spree & oak in the past

He's a nice player no doubt, but let's ease the **** up. We are the 8th seed in a horrific conference. We are on a nice winning streak right now, but still garbage. Last night was an awesome performance, he's a great teammate and brings it every night, there should be more guys like him, but this move is still questionable. Because with Amare injured and not having an amnesty we are likely out in the first round with little to no upside potential. We have no picks and are hope is that lin and shumpert really continue to take their games to allstar levels.

Keep in mind
Howard 14.5rbs (10.8drbs) 2.2blks 1.5stls
Chandler 9.7rbs 1stl 1.5 blks

Switch Chandler with Howard and the magic are under .500 period! Orlando is 32-19 we are 26-25.

There is no basis for such a statement. It is pure conjecture. I bet if Melo and Amare both were out the Knicks wouldn't have a prayer of finishing above 500. Oh wait...some guy from the end of the bench and other backup players won 7 in a row. I forgot about that. You cannot say what the Magic's record would be without Dwight until it happens.

he's been our most consistent player and makes the absolute most out of what talent he has. that earns the highest marks in my book because that's about all you can ask for

Nice hype for a nice player.

They guy has been a force as he has been able to stay on the court and not have nasty injury.

This is a guy that I believe was traded to OK but the deal recended because of an injury. OK had him!

TC was never in the "eddy" under achiever mode but the injury thing.

18 year old bigs get hurt in this league. They don't have the "Man Legs" to withstand the weight of the NBA.

Knicks are 5th overall defensively. They'd be about 23rd without Tyson.

You can absolutley say the magic would be under .500. We are a game above .500 with the guy. Tyson has zero offensive game to speak of and as medicore as Dwight is inside he averages 20 points a game and gets open shots for everyone on the floor. You switch out a top 4 NBA player for a top 20-25 guy it's what's going to happen. The second best player on the magic is ryan anderson the third is who exactly? They have no bench and terrible starter at nearly every position.

Bottom line Ty SHUT Dwight DOWN. It was the best defensive performance by a Knicks center since Ewing. He manhandled DH.

DH is fed the ball in at least 55% of ORL possessions ( guesstimate), Tyson gets about 10% of ours. How can you compare the PPG numbers. That doesn't take away from the need to for him develop some offensive moves.

Knicks can always be an elite defensive team with Chandler and Shumpert in the lineup. Nice to see Shumpert shooting so well from 3. Hopefully it continues,

I want to thank Jeff Schwarts for persuading Knicks to consider Tyson. The trade was very decent as well, although sometimes I wonder if considering Chauncey Billups as the amnesty player was a good move. Glad we didn't get CP3 and landed Tyson instead. Glad we didn't get Howard because I really like defense and Tyson is the man for it. I think that trade was well worth it overall.
