This thread is not a knock on Stat or Melo.

Is it possible that they just don't play well together or don't mesh? Melo seems to do well at the 4 and Stat and Melo seem to do alot of the same things and get in each others way.

Hard to quantify any of this just like it was hard to say that the knicks were/are better off without Melo due to Linsanity but it is interesting watching Melo play without
Amare and will be interesting to see this for the rest of the way.

Tonight (vs Orlando) has been the best ball movement I've seen (with Melo on the floor) all season.

We just won 6/7 with both of them, and they were starting to play great together. they can play together. The biggest difference is the D. On a night like tonight when everything is falling we look like the best team in the league.

This is what guys have been saying about our stars not complimenting each other.

It's a big part of the problem.

Well - teams have to mesh and they were winning together recently but do they compliment each other? They seem a bit too similar.

Pierce + Garnett
Kobe + Pau

they are very different and compliment each other.

Melo has not really played WELL before Stat got hurt. The last 2 games he has played excellent.

could very well be it, but then again look at OKC and MIA. Durant and Westbrook as well as LeBron and Wade both need the ball to be at their best

Lebron is a Hybrid and the closest thing you will ever see to a point forward - he loves to pass. Also, Wade is the goto guy in the clutch.

Wetbrook and Durant have had many issues and I am sure it will arise again. As long as they are winning and both scoring, things will be quiet. They lose three games in a row? Durant will start chirping like he did last year.

It's a poorly thought out duo. Neither one is a good decision-maker. I can't imagine the two bringing out the best in each other.

that was not the consensus when Wade and Bron joined forces. They have since evolved in their collaboration

I think that once Melo gets back to making shots and getting rid of that negative energy that has built up since the Linsanity run, they we be as good as Amare backs lets him play.

You see guys getting good looks off of any of our big threes offense. Melo/stat/lin

Yes - thats true. But they found a way to get it to click. I am sure it was not an easy process. And, that does not mean it will work for everyone

That's probably why melo injured Amare's back.

i kind of agree. melo seems more comfortable and able to get the ball down where he wants it more with amar'e out.

It also seems that the passing lanes are better when they are not clogged by Amare and Melo gets the double. The movement was great tonight. And if Melo is in the post, you can't have Tyson and Amare both within the arc. Tonight it was mostly all 3 point shooters plus Tyson playing together with Melo.

When one guy is out--it will open up more space for the other guy in the low block. So each can look better with one missing. It might not be a bad idea to use Amare as a sixth man when he comes back to take pressure of of him. We need the 5-4 in the 2nd unit who can score. Melo can rebound--so he can handle the hybrid 4 in the starting unit.

Don't think Stat would go for that though I don't disagree. Melo is actually a better rebounder than STAT

You guys forget the game(Sixer?) Where Melo and STAT played great down the stretch When the Knicks went small with STAT at the 5 and Melo at the 4. They played well together over the Woody games because Woody will feature them both. The problem was that neither had their shot going but hopefully they both will be working from now on.

They can definitely play ok together or even "well" at times but my point was/is, can it work overall and flourish ...
