While STAT's injury is hugely disappointing, the way I see it, three major topics on this board will get resolved.

  • Is Melo for real?
  • How legit is Lin?
  • Is Woody the coach of the future

Whatever the past with Melo was, who cares... the number one determinant of how successful this team will be or how big of a failure the season will be lies predominantly with Melo. It's not worth debating Melo's merits or demerits anymore because the next 16 games will determine that

I think most (if not all) of us would agree that Lin has a future as a starter in this league for a long time. But is he Linsane? Could he be an All Star? He's clearly the second banana over the next 16 games and I'll be looking for glimpses and hopefully we didn't just catch Linsanity in a bottle

If Woody navigates the Knicks to a successful stretch, he has to be the coach of the future, right?

All hands on deck. Let's go Knicks.

Im not sure if you let Linsanity out of the box your not just gonna run the kid into the ground especially with the pace of the short season.

Woodson has indicated he won't. Lin was given the keys to the franchise and Melo would not have it.

If Melo goes down woodson might have to play that hand.

If it succeeds Melo looks really bad and we back to Mutiny Melo again unless Melo gets shut down.

...one more thing, is Jorts ready to step up and play a bigger role with Stat's absence. He could be the X factor here.

Before the injury I would have said he is ready. Since the injury he has not looked the same. He is not bad after the injury just not as good as he was before.

while I think it's important, I don't think Jorts' Knicks career will be defined by this, nor do I think the Knicks playoff hopes live/die by his performance. It would be nice if Jorts is the x-factor, but it isn't a requisite for the Knicks to succeed especially with jeffries coming back soonish

while i'm not disagreeing....I just don't see us getting far the next few weeks while we are waiting for Jeffries to heal with three guards and Melo as our PF. I think the roles and rotations have been pretty well established and I hate to see Woody start jumbling line ups like MDA used to do, especially when every game matters and has playoff implications. What we need is for someone to step up and fill in for Stat...I hope Jorts is up to it. He has shown potential before the injury...rebounding, defense and some range on his shot.

We can go on without missing a beat without Amare. Outside of the last two weeks he has been our worst rotational player statistically.

But we need Jeffries, Melo and Lin healthy.
