While we are preoccupied with Melo's shooting % and forcing of shots, our old friend Amare is quietly making good on his All star promise to lose weight, gain quickness and be his old self.

He shut down Elton Brand last nite in the second half and had a key block. Rebounding and astounding as well!

Kudo's to the guy for making good on his words.

He was playing better under MDA as well, but the defensive intensity is up.

I don't think we going to see him on any "Nutrasystem" commercials any time soon!

He still doesn't look like last season's MVP candidate, but at least he looks like an all-star again.

Yeah, we have to give credit where it's due. Amare's making the effort to be the Amare of old -- and the results are showing. He's really trying to live up to his word.

And that dunk he had off the Melo feed showed a good part of the explosiveness that I was hoping he still had.

I love it. Really hurt to see him struggle as Im such a fan of his. When he gets the ball in the paint these days he's just not going to be denied. The best is how his teammates look for him around the paint and he cleans up on so many broken plays.

Lin doesnt have to have great shooting %s because many of his drives to the paint that end in a missed or blocked layup end up getting cleaned up by Amare/Chandler. Even the misses are looking good

well, i was fortunate enough to be there last night and i saw him play in person the first ny/philly game in msg. there was a HUGE difference between the times i saw him. he looked more explosive last night and even philly fans around me were murmuring how good he looked and he was too strong and fast to be stopped. the above post was right that the numbers did not even touch how good he was last night. he got 9 TOUGH rebounds and he was relentless to the rim and went up strong. i guess he was right about getting back in shape because the past couple of games, he has been the man.

Amare played center the entire fourth quarter while Tyson Chandler was nailed to the pine.

The Sixers are a weird matchup as they depend on quick bursts of energy. The cool part was the Knicks energy was dominant from jump on defense. Elton Brand is no day at he beach.

Maybe Amare is just getting accustomed to the new goggles.
