Hi fellas-
Haven't seen you guys in a while- can't make the meetup this week cause I'll be playing Tues thru Sunday night at the worlds oldest jazz club. I will be playing the saxophone- with me are some great jazz musicians-
Orrin Evans on piano
Eric Revis on Bass
Andrew Cyrille on Drums
all three of them are established leaders on their own and Mr Cyrille is one of the all time greats on his instrument, as both a virtuoso and innovator. Be glad to see any of you down there-
sets at 9 and 11pm reservations recommended but not always needed-

I'm in the process of buying a home in upstate NY, when I have things sorted out (eventually) I will try to make it down for one of your performances. Went there years ago when I lived in the city, that's one prestigious gig. Have a great time. Most of the Jazz down here is of the smooth jazz variety so it will be great to hear the genuine article.

Thanks Gustav! I hope your home buying process gets done faster than a Mahler symphony.

Caught the 9:00 pm set on Wednesday. It's a great show and everyone should go and see it - it is quite the production. Buick drives onto the stage in an actual '93 Buick, and jumps out wearing a 70's Knicks uniform complete with short-shorts. He also provides updates on the currently in-progress Knicks game between numbers, so there's no reason for Knick fans not to go.

He also has a great linup, including

Orrin Evans (p)
Eric Revis (b)
Andrew Cyrille (c)

The first tune was a blues of some kind, and I think they planed "Love Walked In" (or was it "What is this thing called Love?" I can't remember. Something about love.) somewhere in there. That's all I know.

I'm coming down with a cold and was trying to avoid spreading it around. It was a last-minute decision to go because I wasn't feeling well, but I'm glad I went. I'll say hi next time.
