January: .433
February: .478
March: .550

He's not playing like a max contract player but I'm thrilled to see that he has some basketball still left. He was looking awful in December and January.

The window for Knicks to win with Amar'e is between this year and next season, after this you will have strong drop-off and it will be a fork in the dinner.

I always knew he had some spunk in him this year, so I am not surprised that he is tearing asses apart in March, but I am relieved.

Yeah, relieved is a good word to use here.

I think he has 2 good seasons left. That 5th year is going to be killer though.

To me you are a hypocrite. I remember you defending Allan Houston and his max contract for years. That was never a factor for you when evaluating Houston. Now with Amare, you make a thread about his improving FG% and the only point you make is "he is not playing like a max contract player."

For all of Amar'e's explanations, it's becoming clear he used his back as an excuse to get out of shape. I'm sorry, that 15 extra pounds were not muscle. Now he's in shape.

Considering his injury history, I'd hope he'd stay in top form as often as possible. But I also doubt that his window is as small as some predict

That was like ten years ago. I knew less about the game and was wrong then. We've gone over this.

The big thing is that he's 29; next season, 30.

After 30, guy like Amar'e could fall off the face of Planet Mars at any point. I think at 31 he will have a stronger J, so he will come in and drop this for you. If he can develop a killer trey bucket this will extend his life.

Didn't realize that his numbers have gone up every month, great news. Also great news that Stat's stroke is starting to come back. I was starting to wonder if it was going to this season, or at least in time to make a difference.

I didn't realize how drastic the improvement was either but am relieved to see it.

Amare and Melo are not putting are not putting up monster numbers with the depth but they are getting a lot of rest which is key heading to the playoffs and they've been extremely efficient and Melo is play an all around game offensively & defensively.

But then he becomes a trade chip with such a large expiring deal, yes? (Harsh as it may be.)

LOL

It maybe true that he is in shape now, but he doesn't have his explosiveness back. I think he still can get most of it back next year with a full offseason of training. Then he can drop another 10 pounds with TC here and finish out his contract right.

You can say that again. He caught a spasm when he tried the reverse dunk and got blocked by the rim. Never saw that happen to Amare before.

Definitely a low lite of Amares career. I don't think I've ever seen a player 6'10 or taller get stuffed on a reverse dunk like that. Not even stiffs like Shawn Bradly or Bill Wennington.

That was the case in his last year with Phoenix. He was averaging like 21 a game before the All-Star brak and the shot u to 25 per game in FEB, 27 PPT in March and 26 PPG in April. In 2008-2009, he had a similar progression, going from 21 ppg pre all-star break and jumping up to 23 ppg in February (that season was cut short by injury). Same thing in 2007-2008.

yup. think jermaine o'neal dealing with the drop off of productivity. he does need to develop an outside shot and looked like he was going to earlier this year.

Fair enough but you need to keep that in mind when you call people out about Melo/Amare/Lin/MDA. Also keep in mind that just like 10 years ago you were wrong, you could be wrong now as well.

Stop it! He's an adult now. 10 years ago? Not sure.
