This is being reported by David Adridge.

If it's true then STFU about hoe awesome D'Antoni and Lin are together. Even Mike didn't believe enough in the guy that kept his job on life support.

no. your assumptions are off.

1) It could be about Melo being off team
2) Dwill is a humongous upgrade over Lin

You are comparing apples and oranges if you think Lin is in the same class as Dwill.

I agree he's a huge upgrade. And I like Lin. But it proves a couple things. D'Antoni needs an all-world PG for success and can't do it with an otherwise very talented team. And it also proves that even Mike didn't believe in Linsanity. If he did he should've fought for his job and "system" and benched Melo.

That was not my point. Obviously D-Will is better than Lin.

Yea, for as much as this rumored trade would ship Melo out of town, this is a damning portrayal of D'Antoni not believing in his point guard Lin also.

I disagree. It speaks volumes of what he needs to suceed as a coach and his glaring shortcomings as a coach.

Nope, this is about Melo not working for the system.

You really think that's something reasonable to do under the circumstance? Bench Melo?

If you do, you got some mighty tight blinder on.

So D'Antoni would just bench Linsanity and play BD off the bench?

wanting DWill over Lin speaks volumes? Every coach in the freaking NBA would want DWill over Lin. It speaks volumes about your logic.

How do we even know this is true? MDA isn't a GM and why would he even be involved in such a transaction unless it was broached by someone else like Grunwald?

In any event the idea that MDA was somehow down on Lin cuz he would be willing to bring in Deron is crazy!!! Lin is still a developing player and he's not considered to be on the level of D. Will anyway. Why not have D. Will and have Lin off the bench? He could also play Lin and D. Will together like he did with Baron and Lin, only it would probably work better.

Like most fans, he wanted Melo off the team.

Dwill probably made most sense to him.

It doesn't say anything about Lin.

in case you missed it, we're in the era of PG's. it's a guard's league. almost all great teams are led by a PG or a SF with a guard's skills and a PG's mentality.

90's Knicks and Rockets would fail hard in today's league.

In no way does it mean that he didn't want Lin. In fact, he probably would have played both Lin and D-Will together like he's doing now with Lin and Baron.

Oh well, what could've been.

Does anyone not agree that DWill is better than Melo??? I mean if we're making that trade aren't we getting the better player? If it's true then I think MDA would've been right and Dolan wrong.

Here's my logic:

D'Antoni needs a PG for his system to work. Fine. D'Antoni had Lin, who proved he could play at a high level even though he has plenty to work on. Aside from Lin you have a roster full of All Star's including Carmelo Anthony. Carmelo Anthony has not bought into the system. Rather than figure out a way to make your young PG and All Stars work together, he tried to get rid of the star player he was at odd's with while alienating the young PG who almost saved his job. Why? Because he needs one of the best PG's on the planet to make this system work and can't coach someone up and make an example of them if they don't buy in.

Seems like a good guy, but he is a weak coach.
