He created a culture of losing a long time ago--short cuts dumb trades poor communication power plays. This isn't Melo's fault--he didnt make a stupid trade for himself--Dolan did it. This was the same type of trade we made for Marbury that failed miserably. It isnt the coach it isnt the players--its the owner--hes the guy.

It's also the coach. But I agree. While I still support the Melo trade, he has to listen to his basketball people especially when Donnie was there. If they wanted no part in that deal it shouldn't have been made I guess.

But in this particular case the coach is as much to blame as anyone.

Who wants to pool resources and by the Knicks?

Dolan pairs players and coach's without much thought to chemistry.

Then he demands "The coach's work it out".

Then when the loses mount up and fans boo, he puts a band aid on it.

Then he does it again.

And we all fall for it.

Briggs is right, the dysfunction of this franchise is from the rotting head on down.

It's more complicated than that. Forget Melo for a second. Let's say Dwight was available to us before the Melo trade and we got him. Would we be pissed because he doesn't fit what MDA coaches? Where I think Dolan and any franchise is right is getting taletn on your team that can mesh together, regardless of who your coach is. Because if a coach can't get success from a clearly talented roster you can find a coach who will succeed.

Dolan was wrong for not listening to Donnie, if what has widely been reported is true.

knicks lose, fans lose, but dolan's still making cash and because of this, the Knicks franchise will always be broken and soul-less.

Dolan totally an idiot - from Realgm:

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/carmelo-anthony-trade-sense-ny-knicks-wallet-garden-honcho-lead-on-court-success-article-1.1038532?localLinksEnabled=false

According to a team source, at least one member of James Dolan's inner circle wants to trade Anthony for the same reason the Knicks acquired him 13 months ago: money.

and here:

http://"He said he's not trading anyone," said the source, with direct contact with Dolan. "He said it's up to the coach to figure it out."

So he has people telling him to trade Melo, but he is saying - the coach has to figure it out. But has he asked the coach or others if they think it can work? NO!

I believe it is wrong to wish ill of people, but I'll make an exception for Dolan.

Its not that he is a bad owner, which he is, but he isn't even a good manager!

I'm not a Dolan apologist. I swear. I wish he sold the team. BUT...what's wrong with saying the coach has to figure it out? He does. That's his job. It's not as if we have scrubs on this team.

So your Owner goes on record(unless this is a rumor or a "sources said" quote) and says "It's up to the coach to figure it out? Do you realize how much this undermines the coach? If I'm a player and I hate the coach, it's no longer on me to win. It's on the coach. And if we lose, great, coach gets the blame. I get a pass. A better quote would be "It's up to the team to figure it out"

We are so dumb. It's like groundhogs day. We make the same mistake over and over again. We slap a roster together and then tell the coach to "figure it out". Then we fire him and bring in someone new to "figure it out". We don't realize that we have castrated our own coach and just took every ounce of power away from him. I literally have been saying this since 1999 and no one sees the correlation between JVG leaving, Chaney getting run out of town(despite getting a horrible team to play hard every night), Williams is thought to be a sham, LB's rep destroyed and now D'Antoni. I know we have dreams of Phil Jackson etc. But eventually it's going to be impossible to get anyone to coach here.

I just hope that people will like me

I agree with your point about that castrating the coach- though up to a point, MDA had to figure this out. But, I think we've reached the point where Melo is just a square peg, and he just doesn't fit here, with or without the coach.

I would say the same thing If I was the owner paying a coach 6 Mil a year and have not seen once ounce of progress on a roster full of talent. And I wouldn't say it in public just as Doaln has not said it in public.
