Dikembe cut down to size
Could be released for Baker
By FRANK ISOLA

That would be the most stupidest move Zeke would ever make.. Just because he doesn't get along with Super Agent david Falk, it shouldn't mean to rid of the players(KVH,DEke)..

We need Deke's playoff experience and shot-blocking skills since we all know, during the playoffs, it turns into a half - court set..

Knick fans don't want that Bum Baker, he needs to quit b-ball in order to get his life straighten out with his drinking problem. If he comes to the knicks, he will definitely IMPLODE and wreak havoc for the Knickerbockers !!!

It's amazing how much Mutombo is under-appreciated He obvisiously helps our defense tremendously when he's played in small doses. Just look at how bad we are when he's not on the floor. If he's cut, I'm going on record saying this team won't make the playoffs and don't deserve to! I'll be very pissed off at IT!

Looks like a big invention from this columnist to me!

We have 14 players on our roster, so we can add Baker without having to release Deke, a player who we might be able to trade this summer because of his expriing contract, and use for the playoff run...

It doesn't make much sense to release him !!!

Seriously, why do so many peoplke on this board take conjecture as fact? Uhh.... it's so annoying.
If anyone knows of a SMART Knicks forum, with lots of activity, and minus people like PLAYA... holla at your boy.

deke blows, and even thoug vin isnt great,he is still better than deke. deke is way too old-he never could play offense and he sure cant now as a senior citizen. he gets 2 blocks a game, great--obviously he isnt enough to help us win, in fact he hurts us by letting defenses forget about him and rotate more to stop marbury on drives--in fact hes too slow to get out of the lane when marbury is driving.he sucks

Now that's funny! What hurts our defense is the fact that he's not there!!!

He doesn't fit with the offense Zeke's trying to give us, that's a fact, but Deke is still a great defender.

Nazr hasnt been doing a good job in protecting the net from offensive rebounds. He did get 12 boards, but Miami/LA(who arent very good rebounding teams) werealways getting easy balls in the paint and just tipping them in or getting the Knicks in foul trouble. Opposing teams dont get as much offensive boards when Dekes out.

And Mase, how can you compare Deke to Baker.. Theyre completely different players. Ones a lean 7 footer whos job is to defend and get rebounds. Anothers a bulky power forwards whos meant to score and get a few defensive rebounds just cause hes always in the paint and cause of his size.

I compare them as basketball players. its quite easy especially since theyre both post players. its a simple math equation vin baker is greater than mutumbo. see how easy?

The player who I want to see get PT is Sweetney. I don't want to keep Mutombo or sign Baker if that is affected.

btw, Don't you think Isiah was willing to give Mutombo away at the trading deadline? Why didn't any team take him?

Actually Zeke was willing to give up Deke. But according to one spot in this article, I think zeke said he was turning down trades...for all we know, other teams wanted deke.

what i like most about deke, is that he's VERY tradable this offseason. you think teams won't be jumping at 4.5mil in dough off their books? zeke's not an idiot.
YAY DEKE!!!
