I agree with the no but they probably should.

Its time to ship Melo or Stat out. Both have huge issues, Stat's health is a concern and Melo doesn't seem to fit in with the team.

I know these things take time but week after week its not showing any signs of improvement - if we saw SOMETHING to believe in I may feel differently, but I don't.

fish I think said it best- ship Melo out before his value is gone.

Send him for a trade exception, picks - whatever.

Play partner on the Dwight Howard sweepstakes.

melo is not going anywhere. it's going to be d'antoni. and that's probably the right move. never pick a coach over a really good player. see: Webber and Nellie in Golden State.

agreed... the really good teams are stubborn and stick to their plan and vision. look at Dallas and 'soft' Dirk. (I remember getting into it with TKF on RealGM about whether or not Dirk was elite or not. TKF and others ridiculed me for thinking he was elite. now he's a first ballot HOF'er, go figure.) clearly Dolan wants/ed to build around Melo, and that's what needs to happen. Maybe there's another course of action, but to commit to another course of action would be foolish now as Melo is one of the most talented basketball players in the world. I was hoping he'd be a bit more, but hwat can you do.

I am a big fan of STAT but I think we need to move him. The only way you move him now is to dangle Melo. Stat and Melo for Dwight makes sense. I don't think Orlando will get anything better than that.

I posted this in another thread...

TRADE 1==========================================
NY Knicks
Outgoing : Melo, Stat
Incoming : Dwight, JJ Reddick, Kwame Brown

Orlando Magic
Outgoing : Dwight, JJ Reddick
Incoming : Melo, Monta Ellis

GS Warriors
Outgoing : Monta Ellis, Kwame Brown
Incoming : Stat

Note: I think this is very doable and helps all teams. Magic would not get anything better than Melo and Monta for Dwight.
=================================================

TRADE 2==========================================
NY Knicks
Outgoing : Melo
Incoming : Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, 2012 1st Rd Pick

ATLANTA
Outgoing : Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, 2012 1st Rd Pick
Incoming : Melo

Note: Atlanta gets an ISO player fortheir ISO system. Josh wants out. We get defensively better.
=================================================

TRADE 3==========================================
NY Knicks
Outgoing : Melo, TD, Bibby
Incoming : Gasol, Barnes, 2012 1st Rd Pick, Future 1st Rd Pick

LA Lakers
Outgoing : Gasol, Barnes, 2012 1st Rd Pick, Future 1st Rd Pick
Incoming : Melo, TD, Bibby

Note: Melo and Black Mamba would be very good for the Lakers. We get Gasol, 2 1st rounders and rid of TD's contract.
================================================

Get it done!

Anything that sends Melo out I will approve :-)

EDIT: Actually, with SAC I would ask for Jimmer and for them to take back TD.

so then you all think Dolan (and Thomas) can admit they made a mistake and trade Melo after shipping the entire team off for him....

I will man up here and say I was for the Melo trade...dang was I wrong about that one.

I hope not. Every move we seem to make, even the ones that look like a sure positive turns out awful. Knicks management can't make a deal without getting raped or vastly overpay for talent that doesn't even fit. Hell, even when we have guys that fit we ditch them for a - he's supposed to be an upgrade - bust. Sort of like the VanHorn for Tim Thomas.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

what about Amar'e for Smith straight up?

In theory, you could feature Melo and Lin on offense, and then have everyone else play off of them in the transition game

Yea, but I am not sure which ones you thought were sure positives??

I think we will know if a Knicks trade is good if it at first seems like we got raped, then it is good. Because every other deal where at first it seems like we did well, we actually got raped.

So trading Melo for some guy like, I don't know, Mehmet Okur, for example, would be a good deal.

I mentioned it in the quote. Keith VanHorn was my example because he was playing good, better than Knick fans hollering for Spree ever expected. Then Isiah went and traded him for Fugazey Tim Thomas. Tim put up decent numbers but, didn't fit as well with the group as VanHorn did.

I know, not a great example but, there were so few positives I had to dig deep into the memory bank.

Im thinking the only thing missing on this team is Metta World Peace and Stephan Jackson.

That might really create the perfect roster.
