Didn't think I'd be asking this a few weeks ago when I was going nuts with Linsanity. Everyone in the house had it. I found myself explaining basketball, answering basketball questions and watching games with people that had I had never watched a game with before due to lack of interest on their part.....Then it started.....I go for a cup of coffee in the morning and would be greeted by the wife with.."Melo Sucks". Then later, my 8 year old explaining to me how Melo needs to pass the ball more....oh man, the decline and fall has been painful....especially since now other people are monitoring it and reminding me constantly....It was so much easier to to suffer in silence then to hear things like..."what's that, 5 in a row now?"

Despite what is going on with the team now, I'm still voting with my Knicks heart and I'm going to man up and yes, they will still make the playoffs even if it's as a first round punching bag yet again...Ugh ;(

I voted NO...I said if they loss to the sixers, they wouldn't make the playoffs. Gotta stick with my gut and pray that I am wrong.

Streaks always seem like there will be no end. When we were winning things looked good. Now that we've lost 5 in a row it looks bad, but I don't believe this team is just gonna slide all the way out of the race. They may even lose some more but it will take a lot for them to be completely out of the race for the playoffs. I do believe they have winnable games and that they'll eventually stabilize a bit. A bounce here or there and the Knicks win at least 2 of these 5 losses. I think the law of averages will flatten out and they'll get some breaks.

I should have my wife and kids standing in Melo's kitchen in the morning! "So Melo, you think you gonna show up for the game tonight?"....my 8 Y.O..."Even I could beat Amare to the rack"

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink. What else can be done until the players decide to go hard for 48 minutes? It's up to them. They've been coached and told what to do for months now. It's not about X's and O's. It's about pride and effort now. You have to want it more than the other team.

That same argument can be made for any coach that gets fired. He got fired cause he could not make them drink.

Knicks were drinking it in plenty during the streak. Did he change what he was saying all of a sudden? Coaches don't tell players to do things that are counterproductive so at a certain point it's more than the coach. It's the players you have and their willingness to adhere and determination to do what it takes to win. When all the talk is over, the players have to do it on the court.

Tell that to Paul Westphal (the greatest PHX coach of all time) and Sacramento.

It's kind of ironic that the wheels started falling off in Dallas, the night Chandler received his championship ring.

I would be shocked if this team doesn't make the playoffs. MDA's teams (at least here) always seem to have a few streaks in them, good or bad. Really typical for the same people that assumed Linsanity would continue indefinitely would also assume that this team will continue at a .222 clip

The wheels started to fall off the instant Paul Pierce hit that 3 at the end of regulation...

i wasn't shocked by that at all. One thing I expected from Boston was that they would execute down the stretch and into the overtime. They know how to win games. Their coach knows how to win games. So yeah, maybe that's where it started and it just keeps getting worse.Or maybe it was when they mailed it in against N.O and the Nets and then got schooled by the Heat going into the A.S. break.

I definitely want to see how Amare and Melo come out after being benched yesterday.

Well that's the thing that chaps my ass. This team always plays down to its competition. It never plays consistently. If the Knicks had just won the games they should've won, things wouldn't be all sunshine, rainbows, and lolipops right now, but everyone would be feeling a lot better about the team right now.

Losses to the Warriors, Raptors, Bobcats, Suns, Bucks, Cavs, Rockets, Nets, and Bucks really hurt. If they win four out of those nine losses to, at best, average competition, the Knicks are 22-19.

if I had to pick one problem with this team to focus on and solve, I would pick developing a killer instinct. All the great teams seemingly love to humiliate a weaker opponent. This team does not. It would rather try and coast against a weaker opponent

But that game against the Celtics could have gone either way. If Melo made his final shot to win the game....

you know, it's just one of those game where one shot makes a difference so I wouldn't worry about it. The game I am worry about are the big blow outs.

Yes. They played hard and fought in that game. The loss however has sent us in a downward spiral. That game really hurt us bad. I woulda fouled
