Melo will always have value.
He cost a lot but brings the hoard of casual fans and media in the arena.
Players like Melo are the essence of NBA entertainment machine.
Knicks are set to produce huge amount of money regardless of the team results and bbal quality.
Getting Lin for Jimmy is like winning 200 mils in lottery for average folk.
Stat is another big $$$ producer and we have Davis and JR for a change.
Fields, Srump and Jorts will give even more folks something to relate with.
This team is a money-print machine for years to come!!!!

I disagree.

I am a season ticket holder and can't tell you how difficult it was to sell tickets for face value pre-Jeremy Lin.

At the beginning of the season, it was still easy to get $$$ but once we went on those losing streaks, I had a very difficult time getting back my money for any of the games I didn't want to go to.

I think the city wants a winner badly in basketball and I think the fans are fed up with the losing. If the losing continues, I don't think even Jeremy Lin will be enough to keep the fans coming...

City wants a winner for sure!

Easier to pay phil jax 15 mil for 3 years.

That covers the starphuch summer buzz t seel tickets and mediocrity at the very least.

Melo will have a thick summer reading list.

God I hope so. So sick of all the "Let's Go!!!" that don't amount to a single playoff victory...

This what it came to in hockey with Rangers.
But man if you are a casual fan this is so boring to watch them win, win, and again win.
There are 3 billions Asian people who can relate to Lin...
can you imagine how much money it will bring alone.
Melo and Amare need to kill somebody to bring even a little portion of that to the table.
They are yesterday news. So they can be traded any day if Dolan will come to full realization of it.
But he is so stupid I doubt it.

I agree with this. I'm a season ticket holder to and I think the vast majority of fans don't give a crap about who is on this team so long as they win. A guy like Marbury was thought to have limitless value before his routine became headlined in the biggest market in the worl. If this team doesn't win consistently Melo will go down in flames.

Possibly with the right mix of basketball & drama they can be. They should study the Isiah years for tips on how to keep things entertaining when the basketball part isn't going well.

got to hand it to Isiah, he certainly showed Dolan that publicity creates revenue, regardless of whether or not the team is any good. Hopefully Dolan realized though if those national media haters think the Knicks have a chance to be good, they get broadcast all over the country

I just want to see us hang one (or more) of these in the rafters.

That's the problem with this team - it was designed to be a money-printing machine and nothing more.

Melo came - tickets prices raised, garden being renovated. Dolan's "rebuild" is done.

JLin was a gift for both franchise value and winning basketball. Leave it to this organization (meaning upper management and Dolan) to ignore the bball aspect and focus on the money side yet again.

That's why this team will never ever ever win.

Sometimes I think Lebron was wise not to come here. There are rats in the halls of the garden. Place is a joke.

It's sad because it is very difficult to have hope when our ridiculous owner is driving a respected leader like Donnie Walsh out of town.

When Walsh was here, I was at my most optimistic as I firmly believed our leadership was in good hands as long as Donnie had basketball control. Even when we did the Melo trade, which I was against at that cost, I still had hope that if Donnie stayed on as president, then he could at least get the proper supporting pieces.

Right now though, even with Lin, I just don't have any faith in our front office and in our ownership. It's all about getting stars and selling tickets and unfortunately, the primary focus is not team-building.
