First off this isnt a melo hate thread so relax melo fans lol. For the past year I pretty much knew this wouldnt work with melo and amare since both have great offensive games but have no defense but they both demand the ball. I think if we had melo and a defensive power forward we would be better. But MDA has to bring one of them off the bench i know its not likely but these two dont fit on the floor at the same time

Hey, since Linsanity continued with Amar'e but stopped with MElo, why don't we bring Melo off the bench?

Because this is a stars league and stars don't go to the bench. Might as well have a losing record than benching a star. Right, Knicks?

No. Amare looks like a D Leaguer. If anyone sits it has to be him first.

No debating there. Leave them both on the bench for all I care.

Did anyone see Amare when Evan Turner went up for that easy lay-up? Amare didn't even bother to jump or stick his hands up. All he did was backed up under the hoop and allow Turner to get an easy 2. Melo was right there as well.

The poor guy was never taught how to play defense. No college, straight to the NBA for a non-defensive coach and the script was written, sealed, signed and delivered.

Last season as well....but he was a beast on the other end so it wasn't as big of a deal.

Melo and Amare haven't worried me. It's everyone else.

We don't punish teams with our size. Chandler has no offensive game. Philly was playing Brand at center when they went on the run. We couldn't even throw the ball in the post and punish them for going small.

We are a jump shooting team minus the jump shooters.

Hopefully Mike Woodson can maximize Melo and Amare as our featured players.

Sloan would hate this team.

He might but he will certainly make them better and hold them more accountable. And, his teams always played great D.

Heck, even Eisley and Shandon Andersion played well for him.

one can argue in Melo's defense that his style of play doesn't fit with this team and that Amar'e might be losing his explosiveness. but there's no F'n excuse for not playing D and showing a lack of effort and emotion—especially for the amount of cash their making.

I don't even give them excuses on the offensive side of the ball, but as you say the biggest issue is the lack of D and effort overall. It's like a twilight zone episode where every 3rd qtr is the same thing over and over again. It's like clockwork. Teams outwork the Knicks and they don't defend. Teams are putting up huge 3rd qtrs while we often can't break 20 pts.

It's not even a matter of fit. Giving effort on D is not about fit. There's simply no excuse.
