TC

we have been a completely different team since Amare returned and much more different after Melo rejoined.
It is obvious that Novak, JJ, and Iman were a big part of the success, during the 7 game winning streak.
TC also was playing his best basketball, while either teamed up with a much better defender in JJ or a 4 that spread the floor in Novak.
With Novak, he spreads the floor so TC can just fight for rebounds, position, and even get alley oops much easier.
With JJ, they both cover much ground together, with Iman and Lin applying pressure on the guards.
Our bench/ 2nd unit, has been outplaying our starting lineup, while constantly playing catch up EVERY game for a reason.
They compliment each other much better than our starting lineups, its obvious, yet you fail to make adjustments.

Our current starting lineup has been exposed and all teams have been doing the same thing, PACKING in the paint, not allowing Lin to penetrate.
Picking on Fields and Amare's speed and quickness, on both ends of the court. Picking on Fields inability to shoot and penetrate.
You are stubborn but something must be done with this lineup. I suggest even having Melo play PF at times, when match ups allow us.

Lin
Iman
JR Smith/Novak
Melo
TC

This lineup has 4 players that can penetrate and finish well.
4 players that can spread the floor, allowing 1v1 match ups and capable of hitting a wide open shot.
These guys are all athletic, quick, good defenders, and anytime TC sets a pick, it would create 2 mismatches.
When TC is outside the paint, setting the screen, it allows room for players to cut in the paint as well.
All these guys have good/great handle, and TC screens can be used to just wear out our opponents. We can just keep moving the ball and hitting our opponents, legally.
Melo can also post up and/or penetrate off the dribble.
Verse the 4, depending on the match up, especially posting up, his greatest strength, something he hasn't been able to do.

Baron Davis
JR Smith/ TD/ Fields/ Walker
Novak/ Fields/ Walker
Amare
Jorts/ JJ

TD is not a PG, he cannot create, facilitate, and make good decisions. But he does have the ability to hit the wide open shots.
TD starting at PG, made us look very weak, and hurt his confidence. TD does have the ability to hit wide open 3 point shots though.

Fields and Amare

I have said even before the season started, that Fields was not a SG, lacking the speed, quickness, ability to penetrate, lacking the ability to hit a wide open 3 point shot. He is a SF, while he excels in an uptempo system and with ball movement, but he needs to be the 4th/5th option.
Having him as a starting SG, while he lacks all these skills, severely hurts our team.

Amare looked much better yesterday, while he didn't try to force it all the way in, instead going in half way for a pullup jump shot.
Teaming him up with Jorts and players that can spread the floor, would allow him to have the room needed to penetrate all the way.
As a starter, he plays horrible defense, and the PF is packing in the paint, cheating, while daring him to shoot.
He would be going in as the 2nd unit player while, being the #1 option vs our opponents 2nd unit.
When Amare is the #1 option, while having the players to spread the floor, he has played his best basketball throughout his career.
He doesn't need to force a shot up but he can set the tone for us with the high post, and the right players to spread the floor.

When these 2 are in the starting lineup, we are a bad defensive team. While our offense isn't cohesive at the same time.
It causes us to be a bad defensive team, without the speed/quickness, ability to penetrate, ability to spread the floor.
We are playing catchup with this lineup, and we NEED adjustments.
We have the manage, utilize our depth, and build the chemistry needed.
Our players need to understand their personal roles for themselves and as a team, they need to understand their roles as well.
Playing to their strengths while, knowing our weaknesses, predicting who and how they will attack our line ups on both ends, and then preparing how we will play them.
The reason why we haven't been playing well, is because we have lineups that do not compliment each other, have weaknesses, and most importantly, HAVE 0 identity.
Our 2nd unit has a much better identity, that is why they have been playing much better than our starting lineups. We need to develop lineups that have identities.
For our starting lineup, our 2nd unit, a scoring unit, a defensive unit, a shooting unit, and etc.....
