Fields has looked terrible shooting, defense has been OK but not nearly as good as shump. JR's D has even been better.

He is not scaring the defense while JR and Shump are.

Is this a permanent solution? I know he is the "glue" guy but it ain't sticky no more!

he did the same thing in a sequence against the Cavs in the third quarter.

With Shump healthy and able to finish at the basket, it's time to start one of JR/Shump. It's a no-brainer.

Can't start him - that just kills us.

MDA didn't even put him back in. Lets see ...

This team is better off with Shump's D at the start of games. Simple as that.

The bench being able to beat the starters is a concern. We need to better balance both in order to avoid these bad starts. Shumps D with chandler will help the starters and Fields will get more spacing if he plays with Novak.

Fields definitely needs to come off the bench.. That start of the 3rd quarter, he must of had 3 bad plays in a row that took away any momentum the Knicks had. Smith or Shumpert should be the starting 2, no question

I want Fields off the bench as well. We just lose too much with him out there. He is a good player but isn't playing well lately. Shump is coming on and getting his legs back. He is too good to bring off the bench at this time. Bring JR and Fields off the bench and play the one that is playing better. JR might pick up that option if he keeps playing this way (bad on offense I mean, his D is great at times.)

Fields is back to poor play with Melo and Stat out there. It is pretty clear when Lin was leading the team and the ball was moving through him that Fields was playing on another level (still not shooting well.)

for me, I see no correlation between Fields bad play and Melo/Amare. Fields bad play is all onto himself.

Fields is a SF who is starts at SG while Smith is a SG who plays backup SF, makes no sense.

What also makes no sense today was the amount of time Fields had the ball in his hands even though he is playing with Melo, Amare, Lin and Chandler.

I think Fields D would have helped on Peirce because of his size. Move him to back up three. He is playing aginst smaller 2s and 1 because of our lack of D from the 1 and 4. If Amare was a better defender it would not matter so much about Lin being a subpar defender because that 4 would show. Let Fields play his natural position.

or ya know, we could just stop switching? there was no bloody reason to for 90% of the possessions.

If Melo stays on Pierce, I guarantee he makes under half of the contested looks he was nailing over Shumpert.

Shump might have had the strongest game of all the Knicks today. He looks great out there and is finally driving and not settling for jumpers. I think D'Antoni might be training him to take starting spot by end of season anyways.

True but Boston does a good job at not getting called for moving screens.lol. I do not get all of the switching. It lookes like Melo got made a few times with the switch when he was fighting over bit other times he would not fight as much. I like Melo's improvement on the D but of he fought on a regurlar basis it would help his teammates. He played great D today but if he didn;t take the easy way out at times it would help the D chemistry. The samme could be said for all the wing players. I think they do not get that you still have to fight to get over top at times. It is new for them.

I don't mind the switching when it's wing players switching but the Big for Guard Switch is embarrassing and should never be done. makes no sense.

Scary thing is Dantoni will problably start Baron at SG then we'll be left with no backup PG again. Unfortunately I don't see Dantoni hurting Fields fragile feelings by benching him for a rookie(Shump)

Fields is better playing off the ball, being opportunistic. It's when he thinks that he's this slashing guard off the dribble that he gets into trouble. Because he doesn't have the tools to be a credible one.
