Oakley said the issue of the team trying to integrate J.R. Smith and Baron Davis, in addition to Anthony returning to the lineup after an injury, to a new dynamic with Lin’s emergence is overblown.

The 48-year-old is impressed with how deep the Knicks bench is and said he would not mind a chance to work with the team after working as an assistant coach with the Bobcats last season. But considering his long-standing issues with the Knicks front office, he realizes that it may never happen.

“I told them four or five years ago I was trying to get a job with them,” Oakley said. “It’s up to them. I get caught in all this hype with management, and I don’t know why. The door is always open. My phone number hasn’t changed. I’m in Westchester. I’m easy to find.”

"Im easy to find"........

"Its up to them"........

Classic Oak. If you want a job, apply. Knicks have more coaches on the bench than any other team.

What on his resume has he done in coaching that would distiguish him?

Guy goes to Vegas, Gets a beat down by security guards, hurts back, can't fulfil his coaching duties and has to resign.

Im not judging why he got a beat down, but I don't hear of any other coaches getting the snot beaten out of them and can't return to their duties?

"I get caught up in all this hype with Mangement, and I don't know why?" Maybe he should ask, or listen to why. Maybe habitually bad mouthing an organization you fancy to be employed by is not exactly the most endearing methoed of attracting affection.

"Would love to see the Oakman work with guys like Amare, Jorts etc and apply a Zeus slap to anyone not putting in work on D."

Lets leave The Oakman in the iconic platform of great knick personalities as it is.

Anthony Mason humbled himself and the knicks have him back around. Oak is a real *******......why would you pay a guy like that to do anything?? If oak wants to coach he I'd gonna have to wait till Ewing gets his shot. That's about it.

Btw, id rather have Mason around cuz he is a real nyer.....he had real skills too side from being a bully.

I'd like Patrick Ewing to get some sort of position with the Knicks, before Oakley, personally.
The guy is the:

-all-time franchise leader in points, rebounds, steals, blocks
-made it to 2 NBA Finals
-member of the NBA 50 greatest players
-member of the '92 Dream Team
-#33 Jersey is retired in the rafters

Sorry to dismiss Oak, but throw Pat a lap dance or something, he deserves it!

Strong accomplishments for his playing career but this does not qualify a guy to coach.

Based on Mental Edge, I give Oak a chance first because he's a philosopher; Ewing just goes through the motions.

He gets some love, bruh. Oak was one of the best Enforcers that the Knicks have ever had. I have always respected how he, like myself, never backs down.

IMHO Oakley would make a great assistant coach for the Knicks. He would never let these guys hang their heads and would not tolerate players being soft.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I got nothing but love for what Oak provdied the franchise. I loved watching him play. I hope the team invites him to an appreciation night. The past doesn't necessarily mean he deserves a job with the team now though.

So Oak as "Head cheerleader" is a good position for him?

"Director of toughness"

We loved Oak. The tough thing is not the NBA at this point.

Bring it back, then we'll talk.

Its all "Lebron Soft" now.

I want to see some owner with a SOME BALLS actually make that a position:

DIRECTOR OF TOUGHNESS

If you're rolling on billions of cash dollars, why not just do it?

True, the NBA is not the "Man's game" that it used to be. It's been modified to accoumodate punked-out soft types.

However, I'd like to see him brought into the fold and woring for the Knicks franchise at some capacity. Despite other teams, or even the NBA in general being soft, he can help the Knicks maintain the hard edge that this team used to be known for.

I understand. Imagine Oak laying a finger on Amare trying to be all tough with him! Zeus slapping a $100 million dollar man! NOt in todays NBA.

I can't get he "MR T" voice out of my head when you guys make this suggestion.

Problem is there seems to not be any "Dislike" amung players. Kobe, who to me has a nasty about him still did not go off on DWade. Phucher broke his nose in an all star game. Im sure he did not mean it, but if Charles got his nose broke? You know Charles would beat up Lebron and Bosh, then pull Riles out the seat and beat him down.

You ask why he not beat Dwade up and be done with it? You don't understand Oak. He beat LEbron, bosh, Wade and Riles first and would make DWade watch first. Of course, wade knows its coming so its extra special. Naturally nobody comes to stop Oak because time stands still except for his beat downs one at a time. Wade slowly buckles into a trance of fear but he can't move cuz he so scared. With Lebron bleeding, Bosh in a fetile positioning coughing his vomit trying not to choke, and Riles ribs sore. he does some "Popeye just ate some spinich" beat down on Wade and tosses him into the lap of Stern, snarles at stern and says "GRRRRRRR Im right here in westchester biytch!.....Free Armorall on the tires for you commish!

Jared Jeffries reminds me of OAK but not as "vicious and malicious" as Clyde would say.

Will never happen. Oakley does not toe the company line. He knows Dolan better than most so I don't know why it is even a conversation
