This guy is something like 21/6 on less than 40% and a record 8-16 with him on the hardwoods.

It's almost as bad as when Lee was an all-star, but not quite, because Lee was one of the most efficient players in the league.

He doesn't deserve to be an allstar this year based on how he's played so far, but there have been even more undeserving all stars than him.

I'm getting fed up of the level of hate directed at him and Amar'e from the media and some fans- they're both good guys, with a good history of success. Both of them are struggling this year, and I get the frustration, but what I don't get is the hatred and relish with which people are tearing into them.

Melo has been injured for much of the year, and now he has all of the media mind games going on inside his head by journalists trying to stir up drama. I hope he and Amar'e can turn things around after the all star game- we need them functioning at a high level if we're serious about making some noise in the playoffs.

As a Knick fan, I'm happy as I always am to have someone represent the Knicks in the allstar game and festivities. I rooted for Houston, Fields and Cappy to win on Sat, would have rooted for Shump if he had competed in the dunk contest and I will root for Melo to have a good game tonight and represent the organization. Go Knicks!!!!!

Carmelo Anthony is an all star any way you slice it.

I'm still waiting for Danillo Gallinari to become one.

Strong but accurate criticism = hate?
Both have had very bad seasons (Amare even more so). I don't see how that's hate toward the player. It might be more accurate to call it frustration with their performances. If Melo is still injured, he needs to sit out and definitely shouldn't be playing in the all-star game. The team isn't going anywhere if he's still injured and shooting 39% with almost 20 shots a game.

All-star basically unfortunately means simply that you're a flashy player and you score a lot of points (no matter how many shots you take). Gallo has definitely played better than Melo this year; he just doesn't fit the flawed image most fans have of all-stars.

all-star starters are voted as such, and the most popular players happen to be the most talented. most fans have memories that go back further than the start of this season, allowing them to remember that Melo is a bonafide top 10 player without injuries

There was 2010 when Allen Iverson was voted on to the All Star team and he had no business being on it and I could make a case that Joe Johnson made a few all star teams that he had no business being on. So I say no, Carmelo isn't the least deserving All-Star in recent history.
The All-Star game is a fan favorite event. It shouldn't be viewed as anything more than that.

That's true, that was a bum selection.

Look, guys, I'm not a Melo hater. Guy seems like a cool enough person.

My whole thing is that we're pulling the horse in two different directions. It's either Melo or MDA; I don't believe they can win together, that's all. But this is the last I'm going to say on it until the end of the season.

All stars starters are voted by the fans.

Melo is a "Celebrity"!

As we know, you can be famous and make lots of money even if you don't have talent.

"Melo" is a talented player for sure, and has great stats to back it up.

He is deserving in his body of work in his career, but not this season.

The ASG is a joke and a popularity contest. Hell, the whole all star weekend is a popularity contest. Dunk contest decided by voters now? Shaq and Chuck picking fantasy teams for the rook/soph game?

Oh, and our linsane Jeremy will be a perrenial all star from next season and onwards. Deserving or not. Mark my words.

Better than 39% shooting on almost 20 shots a game? You can't be serious. He has the potential to be a very productive player but you're in denial if you think he's playing well.

What haters like Bonn do by posting stupid stats does not make them sound smart or anything. Only makes them seem like someone looking for attention. Bonn defended Allan Houston all those years he sat on the bench but he goes after Melo for having a bad FG% when he is playing injured. He is a troll, block him.

I don't know why I'm responding to a name-caller but oh well. I've actually been pretty generous towards Melo lately. Most of my posts have focused on how much potential he has to help the team if he makes some simple changes and I gave him a B- grade for the season. I defended Allan Houston "all those years he sat on the bench"? I have no idea what that even means. If you don't have the calmness to make a post without using derogatory adjectives, maybe you should wait until you cool off a little?

You don't know why you are responding? You will respond and keep responding because that's what you want. You like to troll so how can you not continue trolling. I don't expect you to stop responding.

You are being generous to Melo? What a joke! Your back handed compliments don't make you generous, its just another way to troll. And what you call simple changes are empty stupid posts. They belong in game threads where you comment on what happened the last 20 seconds. You saying stupid stuff like "take better shots" is not constructive or adding anything to the conversation! Stop posting stats and start posting about the games. Don't analyze stats, analyze the opposition, their players and their defense and you will get an idea of how valuable Melo is.

Of course you have no idea about what defending Allan Houston means. That would mean having to defend the position you took that contradicts your current position. Trivialize what I say by saying I am a name caller and completely ignore the rest of my post. That's your MO and its old and tired.
