In the beginning of the season there were a few decisions made that have put us in this position. It's funny when you look back because at the time many fans thought these moves were crazy:

1) Using Amensty on Chancey - dude is out for the season now, if he was still a Knick and had that injury then we are in the cellar for sure. Instead we have Lin and Tyson who has become a huge part of the soul of this team. It can still come back to haunt us if Stat does not find his mojo but it was worth it regardless.

2) Shawne Williams - out for the season. With such a thin bench at the time, if we had spent the $$$ to resign him we would be in deep trouble. Instead we have Novak who can hit the 3, signed JR (could that still have happened if we had resigned Shawne?)

Looking down the list you also see Felton on the decline, Chandler in China, Gallo injured, etc.

Nobody could have seen all of this coming but it just goes to show you that in time all things become clear and some of the moves that were criticized have actually paid off big time. Obviously we will never know what would have happened had they not been made but right now it looks like they were for the best.

Amazing the things that can happen in 1 year...every move that was questioned before, is coming up roses for us. Truly a new era in Knicks basketball, and we'll still have this core for another few more years!

I definitely think there was a change in our fortunes. While these moves look smart now, they could have easily backfired on us and they have in the past. Although I do think there was more through put in to the planning this time around.

It really is amazing how things have changed. I always tell people when a teams fortunes turn around it happens really quickly. While we were awful for a decade, we rose out of the ashed pretty quickly once the pieces were assembled. We still have a ways to go but its a great time to be a fan.

I have co workers from other cities texting and calling to ask about Jeremy Lin - its ridiculous, prior to this people would laugh when I told them I was a Knicks fan.

Oddly, I think Davis being injured is what saved us. Had he been a rotation player chances are we would have waived Lin.

I think when the Knicks sent Lin and Jordan to the d-l it was a big thing. I saw it as a sign of commitment to those guys and an effort to get them on the court in a season where there wasn't much practice time. I believe it was the first time they had ever done that. Recognizing the value of young players and developing them was a big step in my opinion.

let's not forget Shump's knee injury back in December that prompted the Knicks to pick up Lin for insurance.

telling you man, there's no such thing as coincidence.

Felton not on decline, he is not in "the system"!

If you not in the system, your indecline!

Good fortune is not something we Knicks fans are accustomed to experiencing. It's a really nice change. There's a good feeling on the team right now, courtesy of Tyson and Jeremy. Let's hope Dolan doesn't phuck it up for us somehow (e.g., bringing back the snake).

I still think the Chauncy amnesty might come back to bite them in the ass. Hope they dont need it for Stat at some point.

I think it's funny we all fear the return of Isiah - although it would be a nightmare if he came back.

I have a feeling MDA and Grunwald will be here for a while barring a first round exit in the playoffs.

I said the same thing but how do you pass on Tyson to keep Billups? Dude is done. If anything they shouldn't have picked up his extension. That would have been smart, not sure how that would have affected things. We had no way of knowing BDiddy would be available and Lin would explode.

If they amnestied Amare (if he continued to stink), they coulda had the money for Dwight. Who knows - it is what it is. Lets enjoy it.

Having said I love TC. I think he is the best player we have acquired via trade since Camby.

I have always defended the Melo trade and still do. But I can't agree with using injuries to our former players as reasons to justify it. I wasn't sure the Billups amnesty was a great idea. I wanted us to save that for STAT I think they should have tried harder for a salary dump since billups is still well regarded and it was a one year contract.

I am happy everything worked out but I don't give Grunwald too much credit for decision making. We got a bit lucky with the way things turned out. Don't get me wrong I would rather be lucky than make good decisions that have bad outcomes. But getting lucky is not a lOng term strategy.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

lol. no way any gm would amnesty their best player who leads the team to the playoffs to get a shot at maybe signing howard.

The only system Felton isn't in is Nutrisystem.
