He (prior to the death) was still half the man we signed. Don't know if it's the back but he seems to have no lift when he jumps. Maybe it's the extra weight along with conditioning issues like the injury in the offseason, the lack of practice time and the missed time to be with his fam. All have contributed but, there seems like there has to be more to it.
the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

remove your biases and look at window of opportunity here. how long is Amare going to remain a productive offensive player? how long before his contract becomes untradeable? how many championships would we win with Lin, Melo and Howard regardless of whether or not JR re-signs?

STAT is still capable of being an efficient scorer. You don't have to be able to jump high in order to be effective. KG hasn't been looking to go inside and dunk on people and he's still effective. This idea that STAT can't help is crazy. We don't need STAT to be scoring 30 a game like last year.

Let's also calm down on this idea that you can trade for Howard. We don't need Howard. Sure it would be great to have Howard, but really he's not needed for this team to be a contender.

lol, KG is a complete player. Amare sucks at the game of basketball outside of assisted scoring. His blocking out sucks. His passing and court vision sucks. His defense sucks. And to top it all of he is an injury risk?? Sure, he's serviceable on offense this year, but in future years? Howard is a very durable player and he is a force on both sides of the court. He anchors elite defenses and provides low post scoring.

If Howard is available, we pursue him. No-brainer. It's an immediate improvement for the present and the future.

"LINISH HIM!"

No secret he can't defend. I thought we were talking about whether he's lost it on offense lately.

Amar'e is done. I started a thread on this at the beginning of the year and it's only gotten worse.

He has ZERO lateral movement on defense. Compared to Jeffries and Tyson, his defense is ASTOUNDINGLY bad.

Trade him while he still has any value left. Maybe other teams won't realize he's done. And, no, I'm not talking Amar'e and Tyson for Dwight. EFF that. I want Tyson here.

Trade Amar'e for anything - to Houston for Scola and Courtney Lee? I dunno. Something.

Trading Amare would be sad bc he started the new knicks.

BUT someone had mentioned a deal for Bargnani and I would have a hard time saying no to that.

We'd be lucky to get Elton Brand for him

We don't need Howard? The stupidity on this board amazes me sometimes. He's a top 3 player in this league. We are making strides, bit ate an 8th seed. Without lin we were garbage a team likely missing the playoffs all together. Tyson is a good player but he's not top 5 at his position.

Amare's game right now is a tremendous issue. We have 3 years and 60mm left on his deal and he can't elevate or explode. He's not a top 30 player right now. He can't or won't defend doesn't rotate or box out. He's getting blocked at an alarming rate and unless he is all alone he.can't dunk the ball. Comment on what you see not what he used to be.

It would be great to see him return to form, but all signs point to Allan Houston type production at the end of his career.

1. Dwight Howard
2. Andrew Bynum
3. Marc Gasol
4. Marcin Gortat
5. Horford if healthy

You could really make the case that the following are interchangeable

Anderson Varejo, Hibbert, Chandler, Deandre, Noah

And everyone thought that David Lee deal was a joke at 12MM I think we would trade Amare for Lee straight up as he is the better all around player. I really have never seen a guy have rebounds knocked out of hands like he had tonight. He just doesn't hustle and isn't a smart ball player

what i dont like is that he gets blocked by gaurds now. His jumpshot is gone. Last year not only was he explosive but he was lethal from the outside. He just isn't the same anymore. i mean we gut flashes of it by not much

Yeah, something's wrong with Amare. And it's not just the elevation, but the whole range of movement. I know he's getting older, but the decline from last year to this year is very significant.

See this video of him 2011-2012 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVir3p-yzmQ

Against this dunk. Crossover, but this was clear path and lack of elevation - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZRhaoWqc4c

He seems stiff when I watch him. So it's not weight, so either he's not 100% physically or the injury last year is on his mind and causing him to be very careful.

Either way, I feel bad for him, considering how much his physical abilities form a large part of his game. The problem is without his explosiveness and his weak defense, he's just a variant of David Lee with a slightly better jump shot. And Lee does get more rebounds. D'Antoni probably knows, but isn't letting on.
