With Lin learning on the job, I really think D'Antoni needs to be more aggressive in calling timeouts to settle things down. We all know D'Antoni does not like to call timeouts, but he has to start using them more liberally, considering we have (essentially) a rookie running the show now.
Against the Hornets the other night, it was very clear early in the first quarter that Lin was out of control, and the whole team was out of sync. So calling a timeout early on was the obvious move. But unless I am wrong here, D'Antoni did not call a timeout (if he did, it was not nearly soon enough). It probably would have done Lin some good to sit down for a minute or two during a timeout, and have D'Antoni and others encourage him and tell him to just take what the defense gives him, don't try to make a "great" pass every time, etc.
Lin seems to commit his turnovers in bunches, so D'Antoni needs to be on the lookout and call timeout as quickly as possible to try to avoid lengthy spells of turnovers.
