JR picked the knicks cuz they paid more.

Prorated 2.5mm for rest of season vs prorated 1mm vet min.

He could have started next to chris paul.

ESPN says he needs the money. I suppose the reason he went to china to begin with, and the reason he stayed after be a Dbag early on. In my opinion this guy should be thinking which is the best way to play into the best contract possible at this stage of his life and not be compared to anyone regretting signing Stephan Jackson. Mr Jackson by the way at 33 is now not getting along with his coach and team because they have not offered him an extension. Jackson has ANOTHER YEAR AT $10,000,000 after this one!

So? We got him, he can shoot, we need players who can shoot.

If he throws any tantrums or keeps a big ego we bench him and lost nothing.

Would you rather see him on the Clips?

Talking about his financial position and his lack of forward thinking.

These guys are players for our team and they all come with stories. So as a knick fan I am interested in my players.

ON the team or not, don't matter what I think. KNicks are not asking me and im not delusional to think Im making the decision.

Guy can ball. Has been in the league 7 years, has money problems and is not that emotionally stable.

Must be a real treat to be his agent!

I root for my team to win, my coach succeeds and I enjoy the games.

Why leave 750K on the table to play for the Clippers when he is a NJ native.

LOL at "he needs the money".

The Clipper job would have probably guaranteed him more minutes, but $750k is $750k. He figures that as long as Knicks go deep in playoffs and he is part rotation, he will get paid.

When you say Iverson, I think..

JR Smith is in his prime. Come on now. Deron Williams and a bunch of other players went to Europe and China. I guess they needed the money too.

You play basketball for only a few years. Have to maximize your earning while you can.

I dont expect Lin to take less money to stay with the Knicks this summer either. It's bad business.

Nalod, this is why this is such a bad signing. We all hope Smith does great and plays like he's capable. However, what if his old habits show up and MDA has to go the route that won him 7 games in a row (Add in Melo as well). How is Smith going to react to this when his playing time is diminished? MDA had no problem benching Larry Hughes and Stephon Marbury, so if Smith is anyway similar, watch his ass to be cut before the playoffs even arrive. Our chemistry is much more important than his 3 point shooting.

Pretty sure no other team can offer Lin more than us.

Some team can offer him a 4 year deal with the first 2 years being 5 million and the last 2 being the max. My point is he isn't going to turn down money to sign a cap friendly deal for the Knicks.

^ can this dude be banned. he's spreading misinformation and likely confusing people. it's one thing to be dumb. it's another thing to deliberately try and spread false info on a regular basis.

Im not worried about Lin's attitude.

Im worried about a player who sees himself as a role player coming off the bench.

Funny, its really like a 4.5mm contract as he has a 2.5mm player option.

Im sure he thinks he'll make more than that.

He is a 10mm per year talent with a 2.5mm mentality

We cut him and he is untouchable we still have him on the books for 2.5mm next season.

I think he will be ok and not going to worry.

Im sure he is ok with coming in and being a part of the team concept.

Play hard with heart and they "will show you the money!"

per usual, the point eludes you.

How much money did Iverson make in his career? How much money does he have today?

What point are you making? Allen Iverson had a gambling problem.

JR Smith is STILL in the NBA and will be for the foreseeable future. We will see what happens a decade from now.
