It seems J.R. Smith has a huge ego and doesn't accept getting any minutes less than what he deems he should get.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/J-R-Smith-and-George-Karl-are-at-odds-yet-again?urn=nba-287186

Look, I thought J.R. Smith would have been a good addition to shake things up on this team... but that was before Jeremy Lin went Super Saiyan.

Now, I dont think the Knicks should screw with this chemistry. When you are on a streak like this, messing with the chemistry on this scale is extremely reckless. Just from my experience playing pickup ball with a really talented ball player who is also an ego maniac makes the game less fun for everyone. It eventually polarizes the team and causes divisions between the players, coach, management, also between the players themselves. A divisive influence is not conducive to team basketball. The rotten apple spoils then bunch. I cannot scream this from the mountaintops loud enough.

...if you dont believe me just look at what DeMarcus Cousins did to the Kings.

I wouldn't want him back either.

I think these are valid points but hopefully guys like STAT and Chandler can keep him in check. Plus, he's playing for a bigger contract. So unless he sees VERY few minutes I think he's going to have to be a good soldier for his and the teams sake. If his attitude is in check then I think this is a steal.

i don't want smith either, but he's only here for the rest of the year, so if creates any problems, the team can just cut him. not a big deal.

Yea, you're right. Who cares about this? It doesnt matter that he got into huge power trips with his coach. It doesnt matter that he divided the team. All that matters is that he's a career 37.1% three point shooter, right?

Why is he so heralded? This guy has more tattoo's than playoff wins.

Its a fair concern. The current team is has some very positive guys on it. That being said many times in the league we have seen guys percieved as malcontents go to other teams and do very well with no problems. Zach Randolph was ok here and they LOVE him in Memphis. Lots of others as well.

Im pretty happy with current management. Im giving them benefit of the doubt at this point.

Hard to imagine how one SG who has never been a starter can screw up this chemistry

Fishmike, when you have a backup who thinks he's a superstar and doesn't play defense consistently, it's a cause for concern for me. My guess is this will be handled like every other situation MDA has handled. The players who deserve playing time will get minutes and the players who don't wont get minutes, and this goes for Smith.

At least this is just a 3 month deal so if Smith acts like a jackass, his ars will be cut.

^And a great coach who knows a lot about this sport called basketball. Your arguement holds no ground. Smith is a known jackass as well.

Minutes are going to be the issue with Smith. I think you will continue to start Fields at SG, but now Shumpert will probably get all his minutes backing up Lin and Anthony, and Walker and TD will never see the court (which is probably a good thing). We did not sign Smith not to play him, so I would expect that MDA will find him at least 20 minutes a game. If Smith buys into the team concept, he will be an upgrade over Walker and TD.

Melo and Amare have thier money. No ego there.

Lin will get his.

Chandler has his.

This is a dog eat dog business and a guy like JR is so talented and he wants that money!

But like the charactor in "Jerry Mcguire" he has to show heart before they "show me the money".

JR is playing for a contact. He does well the team can't afford him next year but JR will be motivated.
No doubt about his talent, its his bone headed attitude and lack of heart.

If anything, its what makes this season even more interesting!

He really isn't that great of a coach. Back in 97, when the Sonics made it to the Finals, he refused to put Payton of Jordan for the first 4 games of the series. The year after that the Sonics became the first 1 seed to lose in the first round of the playoffs. Also, when the Nuggets made it to the WCF a few years back, they lost at least two games because George Karl doesn't have or practice plays to inbounds the ball at the end of games.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

Yes, and all these points negate the fact that JR is a team cancer and the only reason the team he's on right now hasn't folded up and disbanded is because no one in China can understand anything the Jackass Retard is saying.

the team is really close right now. you think they're going to let a newcomer who might have a history of divisiveness disrupt things? i think not.
