Jeremy Lin stated this morning few short hrs ago WFAN, today he's thankful and also that
Carmelo Anthony isn't selfish and went to Mike D'Antoni telling MDA he should be played
and getting time.

This also re-confirms that the other on WFAN/Francessa's interview with D'Antoni coach Mike didn't & wouldnt come out
and state Melo talked to him regarding playing Lin, MDA didn't say he didn't either so took high road response & failed
to either give Melo credit nor did MDA knock Melo regarding his relationships with team and rooting interests in Knicks
success.

Jeremy Lin officially stated Anthony helped in get into Knicks lineup

I wont tout Melo but admire him and say that in this whole thing
the kid Jeremy Lin is very very humble and he's the real hero in Knicks fortunes, despite D'Antoni being happy with a real PG
but failing to link Carmelo into any of this "Feel good" story on Lin.

Its understood too its all about LIN !

its that same stubborness that is the reason players love him. Why Baron, Chandler, JJ and Amare have all publicly stated it was a big factor in them coming.

Players are allowed to work through slumps and nagging injuries. Players dont have to look over their shoulder if they have a bad stretch. They can just focus on fixing their game or eventually sit when its just not working. It can be frustrating for fans but it builds chemistry on the team. As a guy who's played a lot of team sports I know I would appreciate that

It speaks volumn when the coach listens to his players and promotes a guy to minutes.

Thats how you hold on to your lockerroom during a tough stretch.

If you promote a guy who does not deserve it you lose your locker room and the promoted player gets frozen out.

So one of the caveats of Lins success was the team has been behind him.

So we can take it as the glass if full, or empty.

Coach has taken the brunt of the bad, so he also gets the good.

Also, Melo has been beaten down in the press every day with speculation about his game not melting with the team.

Lin has stated MDA is a wonderful coach and one without an agenda to himself. A team unified says the right things. Its far better for the coach to create an environment of unity. A self confident man knows better.

We have seen our share of insecure men thru the garden, in particular Larry and Isiah. MDA has taken a whole lot of crap and I think handles himself and the team very well.

Not all agree, but thats cool too. Time will tell.

If this team wants this coach to stay it will play as such a team, and those results translates to effort, win and entertainment.

The rest is in God and Dolans hands. Shameful to put both in a sentance together.

Without dumb luck (Baron's infection and Jorts out 6 weeks), Lin's not called up from D league, D'Antoni stubbornly sticks to Shump and TD at PG and Melo at Point forward, Knicks lose to the Nets, and D'Antoni is probably fired for losing to the ****y Russian(no offense to anyone).

I just made a very detailed thread that proves that Lin wasn't being ignored and that it was the circumstances of when Lin was brought in and the tight schedule that didn't allow Lin to really have a fair shot early on. Lin didn't have training camp and the season was already underway when he got here.

MDA sent Lin down when the team was 6-7!!! This was before the team was in desperation mode.
MDA didn't send Lin down to the D league to punish him as if he needed to get rid of him. It was to get the kid some run so he could get comfortable with the System, which he had not had a chance to do with NO PRACTICE DAYS!!! Go look at the schedule and you will see that it was a necessity. Did Melo put in a good word for Lin? I bet he did, but it's the head coach that is responsible for making sure players get the training and coaching they need and MDA made the right moves and did put Lin in games at what he felt was a proper time and place. In the end it's still the coaches call on who plays. MDA did right by Lin and he was more prepared when he did get his shot. That's what a good coach does.

I like D'Antoni. Is he the greatest coach around, nope, but he can get the job done with a PG and guys that buy into his system. But you can't neglect that Boston game. That was a friggin travesty. To even shovel TD out there in the 2nd half after Lin played well in the first half was pure and utter garbage. That 8 minute span probably cost the Knicks that game against a division rival, and hopefully not a tiebreaker if it factors in(Mike Breen and Jeff Van Gundy called the game and even questioned why not Lin in 2nd half). I won't even mention Chicago(0 minutes played by Lin), as that was an epic D'Antoni fail. Both were winnable games, and a ton of people thought Lin should've gotten at least 10-15 minutes. Either way, you can't say that D'Antoni has been doing right by Lin this whole time...it was circumstances, desperation and need, not to mention a nudge by Melo.

your 100% right. But is that a knock on MDA? Its what works for him. If Houston's floater doesnt drop JVG is surely fired. One shot. A lucky bounce? Whats the difference? Thats just sports. Every team that wins title has some luck involved unless you have Michael Jordan in your prime. Hell... even Shaq, Kobe and Duncan might not have titles if Robert Horry doesnt drill some insane 3s.

That being said as Nalod mentioned MDA has this team playing their asses off and its a new season right now. Just as using Melo at point forward was a bad idea that just didnt work and thats on MDA, listening to Melo to play Lin was simply good coaching.

Do the players play hard? On both sides of the ball? Is this a system that can win? I would yes, so why there is talk about the coach right now is beyond me. Some just like to hate

I literally can't remember Lin's minutes against Boston. He played well? 0-3, 1 assist, 2 fouls, 1 TO? Knowing that Boston was gonna clamp down in second half?

Tough call either way. Boston and Chicago are 2 teams that can turn an NBA player to jello in a NY second, ruin a kid's confidence very quickly. That's realistic.

ugh don't remind me of the chicago and boston games. We should be on a 9 game winning streak. Knicks were so desperate to get a win and then to lose in gut wrenching fashion to 2 conference rivals with TD at PG ugh

Not hating, I give credit where credit is due. D'Antoni nowhas made the right adjustments, substitutions, game plans etc. Can't knock him there. He finally got his PG(although it took him 23 games), and Knicks are now flourishing and playing balls to the wall. Like I said earlier, is he a great coach, HELLS NO. Is he a good one, yes, an offensive genius perhaps. But to excuse the other 3 and half years like it never happened after 7 games is kinda ridiculous.

Of course, as the Big Kahuna, Carmelo would say "coach, this guy is balling hard, give him burn time!". That's standard procedure.

Now Lin is tossing the potato back, is all.
