For all of you who are needlessly worried about how Carmelo Anthony will mesh with Jeremy Lin, I suggest you go back and watch video of Carmelo and Gerry McNamara when they led the Syracuse Orangemen to the NCAA Championship. Carmelo played off the ball with McNamara controlling the action and they were very successful and a lot of fun to watch. There's no reason why Carmelo and Lin couldn't have the same type of chemistry.

I've been thinking the same thing. McNamara was arguably the driving force behind the Syracuse teams... and continued to be a force AFTER Carmelo left.

(I always wondered what he might have been able to do if he was given the opportunity in the NBA the way Lin is now...)

I think he will be fine. But, a freshman in college aint no NBA diva. He's no longer the same guy.

Statistically, Melo had his best years playing alongside Andre Miller who is a pure pg. Not to mention, playing alongside Billups, he went to the western conference finals. Melo and Lin will be fine.

The first issue is that he has to get healthy, which may or may not happen this season. He's had tw surgeries and many injuries in the past few months.

Only issue I see is with "game on the line" type moments, but even then Carmelo should be taking that. They will mesh just fine.

Melo and Billups existed just fine and he had the ball alot and even posted up keeping the ball in his hands the entire possession. The difference will be Lin keeping his dribble and running the PnR more than Billups but the ball will be out of Melo hands just the same. Also, Melo didn't take every last game shot Billups still shot his big shot in Denver and his short time in NY. So, why couldn't Lin take it at times too. Billups and Melo went to the Western Conference Finals together and was on their way to being one of the top teams the next year untill Karl go sick. So, Melo has always worked well with a point guard.
