Mayweather may be a great figther with his fists, but he sure ain't Ali with his mouth, and is a pretty loathsome human being.

I watched that 24/7 with him and De La Hoya... he's playing with stacks of money and cars while Golden Boy is playing with his Segway and his Swiss banker and then I knew Floyd is a damn fool.

It's probably true to a degree. There have been very few successful pro Asian and Asian American athletes in the American sport and that's especially true in basketball. This is something that's going to draw fans in. With that said, the fact that he's the underdog is also a major factor as well and most fans love the underdog who rises for the occasion.

With that said, Floyd needs to shut his mouth. Nobody wants to hear his opinion of Jeremy Lin and there's no need for him to point it out as if the issue sticks out like a sore thumg (Which it doesn't) and for him to accuse him of steroids is classless.

Mayweather has taken too many shots to the head I think.

Black players do what he does every night and don't get the same praise

OK Mayweather. Name those players that have gone undrafted and waived and then went on to do what Lin has done in his 1st 4 starts.

It's funny, because he did not do this much yapping at the mouth when he walked away from the fight against Manny Pacquiao because he was too scared. He still will not even approach the subject of fighting Pacquiao. He is a coward and a loud mouth.

True Allanfan, Lin being Asian-American is part of the story, the stats are incredible to back it up.

But hell, I'm starting to wonder if it's also his name is a pun magnet. Knicks Facebook is talking about "VaLINtine's Day" — it's a perfect PR storm.

Don't expect poignant commentary from a guy who taunts his Mexican opponents by wearing a sombrero.

And so what if some of this is true?
Yes, to some degree Lin is a pioneer as one of the first Asians to succeed in the league.
Perhaps it garners more attention since its not coming from a group that's already wildly successful in the league. Doesn't mean he's not playing extremely well, just as Jackie Robinson once did. Why the hate? And btw, TD wasn't doing it every night, and as a knick fan that is all that matters to me.

Floyd is loud mouth for sure. His comments about Lin are stupid as hell. But he's the best fighter in the game bar none. He's not running from Pac. Pac's promoter doesnt want him to fight Floyd because he can't beat him and when he loses, the monney train is over. There are no more fights for Pac after a FLoyd fight. Pacs promoter wants every fight he can get b4 he fights Floyd.

But why would anyone care about Floyd's misguided black nationalism.

he and many here are missing the point. Its not so much that he's Asian but that he was and undrafted, unheralded player. A sort of rags to millions type story that American's love to hear. The fact that he is Asian is a secondary theme.
the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

His is a New York story.

Mayweather ducked another athlete of Asian descent, Pacquiao, for years. Using drug testing as an excuse not to fight him. Mayweather waited until he was about to go to prison to start talking tough so he wouldn't hear from other inmates about how he was too chickensh^ to fight Pacquiao.

The man could fight but isn't the the best lb for lb fighter today, that would be Pacquiao. Mayweather really f'ed up his legacy.

Word, the city of plucky upstarts, second chances, redemption, and glory. Melo got the love, Amar'e got the love, Shump, Lin, Fields, Camby & Spree before him... hell, Jonathan Bender for a game or two! If you bring the goods, we'll throw you on our shoulders for giving us it all... we respect hard workers who can perform under pressure 'cause pressure is what this city is built on!
