I was wrong about Lin and I MAYBE I'm wrong about not extending MDA. Extend him to another year only if we fire Mike Woodson and bring in someone else to handle the defense. Yes our defense has gotten better but I'm not so sure it's all on woody. I think it has to do with Chandler,JJ,Shumpert playing good defense and not to mention when Jorts was in too. With that said I'd give MDA another year to prove him self with Lin and this roster and the improvement on defense. Go out and let him build a bench thru free agency. We really need to find a SG, another big and a back up point to Lin.

A 1 year extension is not exactly a vote of confidence. He could get a better contract somewhere else i'm sure.

As for proving himself. There's only one thing left for Mike to do. He has to get to the finals and win. He's won COY, gotten to the WCF's. He just has to get to the finals and win, which is no different than any other coach. What had Doc proven until he won a title or Rick Carlisle? They were good NBA coaches and still are.

All of the accolades that you speak of for D'Antoni were for a different organization with a stacked roster that you could make a compelling argument that he should have gotten deeper into the playoffs with. What he has left to prove is experiencing success in NY. His record here is well below .500. Maybe now with Lin at the point and the team playing defense things will turn around but a lot of losing has gone on. He definitely has something to prove in NY in my opinion.

After what MDA has had to suffer here in terms of roster change and trades ****ing up the chemistry he works ard to build with multiple sets of players, he may just choose to walk away. I think MDA too woul like to see what this team can do and whether Lin can really smell Nash' body of work. A one year extension with pomise to keep the roster unchanged will work for both parties. If it works MDA gets multi year extend with more money, if it doesnt Dolan gets to pitch PJax who will likely tell him to "go jump"
