Not for nothing but there team in their prime was/is better than ours. KG better than Amare, Pierce better than Melo, Rondo better than Lin/Davis and Allen better than anyone else on our roster. Tyson gives us somewhat of an edge but Boston had a deeper bench as well. Agree, disagree? Are we championship material?

Shump, Fields, Jorts, Novak, Davis potentially better supporting cast

a little early for that.

let's see if the team can get to that discussion.

meaning - can the team work in amar'e AND melo, while keeping lin going.

if they do that, they can have something special. and it's waaaaaaay too soon to tell what that means.

just enjoy the whacky ride of this lockout season and let the chips fall where they may.

Lets get to .500 first and to do that we gotta play into the meat of our schedule.

6 weeks into the season the LinSpiration is only 3 games and we are not going any where until our two stars are fully bought in.

Those advantages arent as clear cut as I might have made them out to be. If Stat can play some defense than he is on equal footing with KG, quite possibly giving the edge to Amare for being more explosive to the hoop. If Melo can play defense, become a better facilitator, and shoot at a higher percentage than he might also have an edge on Pierce because he is a better all around scorer as it stands now.

These are some big ifs though, but as these two continue to play together, hopefully they can refine their game. As the poster above me said, only time will tell.

Off topic, who do you guys start when Davis comes back? Lin or Davis...We dont even know how much Davis could give us and you dont want to mess with Lin's development but at the same time how would coming off the bench effect Baron's game?

KG Better then Amare but but Amare can dominate KG as proof of last playoffs in that one game. Amare does rise in big moments when healthy

Pierce and Melo is a push in my opinion. I can't honestly say Pierce is better than Melo. Before this big trade of Allen and KG coming to Boston Pierce was just a stats guy on a bad team. Now all of a sudden with a loaded team he's better than Melo?? Not buying it. Melo almost beat them by himself last year. How soon we forget.

Rondo Definitely Better then any of our PGs

Tyson Better than Oneal

I think if the WHOLE TEAM CAN BUY INTO SYSTEM...we can definitely give the Celtics a run for their money. All comes down to Baron Davis getting healthy and Lin continuing his progression and TD staying planted on the bench.

STAT will be fine. There's no mystery involved with STAT since he's been a beast in this system. The only issue is Melo. They've got 40 games to prepare for the playoffs.

Before his personal tragedy he was coming back to form. Even his jumper was falling again. I think he has his legs now. I have no doubts about him honestly.

Boston had a solid team and I am not about to elevate Lin to all start status yet but to poke a few holes in the argument-Rondo may be a better pure point than Lin but Lin can shoot whereas Rondo has a rough enough time hitting the backboard (call it a wash pending what Lin is or can become) , not so fast about Pierce being better than Melo, agree with Garnett over Stat and Allen over Shump/Fields and Chandler. I see it as pretty even depending onwhat Lin really is.

Nalod is Jeremy Lin the Itme Duigu you spoke so fondly of? Did he change his name to get through customs?

At the time they won the title, i would put Melo over Pierce, Chandler over Perkins, and Lin slightly ahead of the rookie Rondo. But Garnett was better than Stat and Allen was far better than anything we had at the 2. It is a pretty good comparison though in terms of hopefully where we are headed. Consider that without Rondo, Boston would have probably struggled not much unlike the way the Knicks have early on. The key to it was Rondo surpassing expectations and that is what Lin is doing. We have found a solid shooting in Novak but we really need a shooter at the SG position badly.
