Even though the biggest positive for us is lin playing so well it seems like besides that we have nothing but bad luck. I mean Amare had a tragedy and we dont know how that might effect him for the next coming months. Also when it comes to meloand im not here to bash him in any way but he seems to get hurt very often now which considering the assets we gave up is a little frightening. Now i think lin will kae it work with amere and melo and the team will finallt get off to a big run but hopefully injuries can subside for a while

Out of the ugly springs the beautiful.

Deaths and injuries are the worst things, but we must see the Light: Lin has a golden opportunity to put his stamp on the team. He remains as the sole Big Kahuna and will work to mold the support cast to his liking. He will develop a strong relationship with Tyson and when Melo and Amar'e are reintroduced there will exist a healthy foundation on which the team will build.

It's not a circumstance I would willingly create, but there is enormous upside in this situation.

If there is ever a time where you want some injuries, it is when you have Jeremy Lin emerging as the NBA's Next Superstar Point.

With Melo and Amar'e out, there is less pressure on the kid to bring home the W's; if Knicks lose, well, Melo and Amar'e were out, what's a guy to do? If they win, Lin gains respect which he will later need to leverage when Melo tries to wave him off.

Lin will one day wave Melo off.

http://offthedribble.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/02/08/injuries-throwing-wrench-into-n-b-a-contenders-plans/

"On Tuesday, it was announced that Clippers guard Chauncey Billups had a torn Achilles’ tendon – sustained during Monday’s overtime win over Orlando – that would force the veteran floor general to miss the remainder of the season. In New York, Carmelo Anthony is expected to be sidelined up to two weeks with a strained groin – this while having just recovered from ankle and wrist maladies, and despite logging the fewest minutes per game of his career.

And the list goes on: Dwyane Wade, Amar’e Stoudemire, Stephen Curry, Derrick Rose, Elton Brand, and Eric Gordon – to name just a handful of notables – have all been forced to spend multiple games in street garb, cheering from the folding chairs."

JCrusher - if we know ANYTHING about the Knicks, injuries included, it is to expect the unexpected.

You cannot stop injuries this season. You can only hope to contain them.

It's the old half full, half empty thing. In our favor, we've discovered that more than 7 guys can contribute for our team. We also get our big guns back AND have a working , second unit, as well as a functional point guard.

This is the "BEST LUCK" we have had!! If this did not happen, who knows if we would have really seen what Lin and Novak could really do??

Wally Pip was such freakin bad luck for the Yankees.

Bad Luck
by HAROLD MELVIN AND THE BLUE NOTES

Uh
Woo
Well, well
Look down-hearted and confused
Because lately you've been startin' to lose
Losin' out on everything you might try to do
Bad luck's there, it's got a hold on you
Losing money, 'bout to lose your home
Done lost your woman and everything you own
Law of averages plainly states that chances go around
But if you want know the truth about it and tell you what's pullin' you down, yeah
(You got) Bad luck
That's what you got, that's what you got (Yes, uh)
Bad luck
That's what you got, that's what you got
Bad luck
That's what you got, that's what you got (You got)
Bad luck, bad luck (Bad)
Played a number 'cause that number's hot stuff
But the bookies get you for every cent you've got
Walk around in a daze with your pockets bare
Go to see your woman and she ain't even there
???Don't seem to give a whiz about it and all your trapped in time???
The more I think about it, I think you're 'bout to lose your mind
Some people call it jinxed, some say it ain't my day, huh
But if you wanna know the truth about it and tell you what's pullin' you way down
Bad luck
That's what you got, that's what you got (Yes, uh)
Bad luck
That's what you got, that's what you got (You got)
Bad luck
That's what you got, that's what you got (You got)
Bad luck, bad luck (Bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad)
One long week
Ooh, huh
Yeah, yeah
One more thing
Law of averages plainly states that chances go around
But if you wanna know the truth about it and tell you what's pullin' you down
Down, down, down, down, down
Bad luck (Yes, uh)

I'm not sure it's just bad luck with Melo. He's had two surgeries and a dozen injuries in the past year. That's unusual for a 27 year old.

If it's mot a shortend season the injuries would not be a big deal. Look at Rose, he is in and out with back spasm. There is just too much travel and games to get proper rest

PLan on injuries. Its part of the game.

Injuries create opportunities.

Tom Brady was the 199th player picked and his rookie year was stuck at #4

The next year when Bledsoe went down Brady took over. Bledsoe never got back in the game despite a monster contract.

Sometimes your forced to try new things and Lin was ready for the call. Linn had to be prepared.

Amare and Melo both out might prove to be the best thing for the team long term not because they are ill fitted, its because of their contracts and status the emphasis has been on them. Now, its spread out and they can "just" play.

Luck: "When preparation and opportunity collide".

If it comes together we move up in playoff seeds. Its possible Miami or Chicago gets banged up in the playoffs. If healthy will we be "prepared" to seize that "Opportunity"?

That song is a classic.

Perfect timing for it to be posted in this thread, DJMusic. +1

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Quality of play is down across the league, the stats reflect it.

So much for the idea of a players league. Most of these idiots obviously couldn't stay in shape during the lockout, let alone run in a league. There, I said it. Once again, the best atheletes on the planet, with the mostest and bestest of everything, and once again we're going to cite the strain of private charters, the best hotels, the best food, the best private training facilities the best blah blah.
