I don't see how it would be risky. We don't have the cap space or mid-level exception available to sign him to a big money contract, so I think the risk is pretty low.

Is Vin really interested in coming to NY or just jerking our chain?

another distraction. that's all we need.

he's done and won't bring anything this yr.

only thing he's proven this yr is that he was capable of not keeping promesses he had made.

The risk factor of him staying sober.and showing up for game and not disrupting this team anymore than it is..

chemistry is all we have now. We need to get it back quickly. Wine baker would make us loose even more time.

bad bad deal...

This team needs a low post scorer. I see no problem with taking a chanced on Vin Baker.

Might as well sign Baker now while everyone is still adjusting rather than waiting for later. He played extremely well earlier this year and was in good shape. We need a second scoring option, and we have to find one creatively. We might as well take a shot in the dark on Vin.

Looking at KT's numbers, I must say they are not that impressive. I think Sweetney given the same time could do the same at the very least. In addition, I do not think KT is a threat in the low post. For these reasons, Baker should be signed and tried. Give him minutes at the 4-5 and take those mimutes from KT and Deke.

NY needs to get easier baskets ESPECIALLY if Houston is out for the season, which I think may happen. On that not note, I'd like to see Penny start at SG and have Anderson come in for defensive reasons only. The man is a menace with the basketball! Did you see those 2 hook passes to Deke? what is he thinking! DJohnson can back up TT at the 3 and FWILL can back up the 1-2 for now.

Stehp Penny TT KT DEKE
Baker FWILL SWEETS Nazr DJ

That would be my rotation and HOuston would take DJ place when and if he comes back!

I am all for the Vin Baker pickup. Problem or not, the man has skills that Isiah can help him tap into again.

Also, I am sure that Vin Baker has something to prove, and NY could be a good team to make a legit comeback with. Isiah likes players that are out to redeem themselves in one way or another. Vin would fit in well with us, IMHO.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Correction the man had skills and I guess there must be kind of misunderstanding as IT cannot change everything. Vin already had something to prove this year, and only thing he has showed is that he could'nt keep promesses he had made.

When he was playing this year, Vin did play very well. He was moving on the court better than he had been.

I was about to say the same thing, Vdesai.
Vin still has skills, yo. After losing that contract, hopefully he'll stay on point. We only need him for the stretch run, so if he can make a solid contribution and attend his aftercare program, he may not be done in this league after all.

I just represented a client today, a 76 year old woman. She got arrested for DWI a few months ago. The Assistant DA was going to go easy on her, and we were in the process of working out a plea for probation and no jail time when, she gets soused up again and runs into three parked cars. Today, I had to get real creative to keep her from doing 60 days in jail (probably would have killed her)-- when I argued that her recent misbehavior was a result of her bereavement over her husband's recent death, the judge was quick to point out that she'd had DWI's every few years since 1984.

Bottom line is, when you dance with the devil like that, you just don't wake up one day and get cured, or get Jesus or whatever. It takes years to fight that beast.

And that's if you're not a professional athlete.

Playing under the harsh spotlight of the NBA.

In New York.

I'm all for taking a chance on Vin Baker. But everyone involved must understand that it would take a miracle for IT to win that gamble.
