. Tweet yesterday from former Nuggets shooting guard J.R. Smith, who had been playing in China this season: "I wonder what it's like to play on broadway? #hmmmmm!" Smith, of course, is an unrestricted free agent. Once his team's season ends, he will be eligible to sign with any NBA team. The Knicks, who still have their "room exception," are believed to be among teams interested.

I don't know about your definition of what the team is "trying to accomplish", but I do know the team needs depth. The team needs a SG that can get into the lane in addition to shoot from outside. They clearly have been targeting the players who went to China so it makes sense that he would wonder aloud about possibly playing here. I hear the Knicks have also talked with K Mart's people. Trying to improve the team never stops.

It would be an unprecedented coup of historical proportions if the Knicks actually managed to get both Kmart & J.R. Smith.

Ha!

The depressing thing is that if you'd asked if we should get him at the start of the season, I'd of said no way. Now I no longer have any standards and am desperate to try anything.

The problem is if we don't win a few games now it wont even matter.

So who would you all sign- Kenyon Martin, jr smith, both of them or neither?

If Smith is will to take our full MLE then we are getting a STEAL.

The guy is only 26 yrs old. Not the brightest player but would EASILY be the 2nd/3rd best offensive talent on this team.

James Dolan really needs to teach a class at a university called Starphucking 490: Advanced Starphucking.

Who said he's talking about NY & the Garden? It's on 7th Avenue. I'm not sure I care about who they bring on this team anymore, I'm more interested in who will eventually go.

He chucks 5 3 pointers a game compared 4.1 by TD. Unbelievable. His 37% from the three vs 36% for TD. This is EXACTLY the type of player we need.

i think JR Smith would be a good addition here. he can shoot from outside, though he's streaky, i think he shot like 44% from 3 one recent season in denver.

and he can penetrate the lane and defend.

i used to be in favor of adding kmart, but given how shallow and awful our backcourt has been, i'd sign JR.

imagine if our starting lineup looks like this come march 15th or so, giving a six week cram course for the playoffs:

PG - Baron Davis
SG - JR Smith
SF - Melo
PF - Amar'e
C - Tyson

Bench: Iman at PG, Toney at SG, Fields at SF, Jorts at PF, Jeffries at roving whatever whatever. in case of emergency, Bill Walker and Mike Bibby

That's a quality rotation

Sign JR. I think he has an edge this team could actually use. a little nastiness. a little competiveness. that's what i like about adding JR or Kmart. this team needs a little nasty to it.

I don't understand this idea of the Knicks Starscrewing. JR isn't a star! He'd be coming here as a good role player. We wouldn't be sacrificing anything to bring him in, so what's with the dissing of this possible move? What do you expect the team to do, just sit on their hands? Who do you bring in? MOST of our roster has good guys on it. So he's a strange guy. So long as he plays well and helps the team win I don't see why you don't give it a try. What's the risk?

The whole idea is to either develop your own or sign a current star player to form the core of your team. We've elected to go with paying for our stars, but it's still a valid means to an end. The only mistake is not securing a quality PG to start for this team. JR or Kmart are solid moves to add to a team that needs depth.

My recollection is he's a SG. He only avg'd 2 Asts a game for his career. We need a versatile SG that can shoot and get to the rim.
