Always liked Gallo, but i figured he was getting that much and i'm glad we aren't spending almost 20% of our salary cap on a good role player. When you are trying to build a championship team it is all about finding quality role players for far less money, such as mid-level or cheaper. Only exception would be paying market value for a quality center, which is acceptable. But paying gallo and afflalo that sort of money won't lead you anywhere but the first round every year.

What were you going to give Felton/Nelson/Nash? Perhaps $7MM

Gallo (10.5MM next season)
17.4pts 5.2rbs 2.4ass 1.7stls 1.7tos 46%
11.5fga a game

Carmelo (21.4MM + Balkman 1.67MM)
24.1pts 7.1rbs 4.2ass 1.3stls 3.2tos 40%
20fga a game

It's interesting you call Gallo medicore because is playing medicore and making everyone on his team worse with his selfish play. He's shooting almost 9 more shots a game and turning it over at a high percentage and shooting a low percentage

So for 23MM that's what you get. I take the Gallo contract and another player all day long.

Seems like a reasonable contract to me. When you look at what other players are earning, this really is not out of line.

Very fair deal. Denver probably drafted it right after he dropped 37 on the Knicks fearing he'd ask for more lol.

That David Lee contract is terrible! Gallo is a good fit for denver, and denver for Gallo- he doesn't have to be the man, and it's a deep team, so his team mates will cover for him the games that he plays passively. $10mil per year sounds a lot, but lets be honest, how many players get signed to bargain contracts?

I wonder what happens to Mosgov- doesn't his contract run out after this season?

Gallo is going to be the man in Denver. He is averaging 17.5pts and he is still very young. Should average 20 next year and who knows what his selling is 30pts per game?

Nah, this is Gallo's 4th year in the league, he's 23/24 years old- he's pretty much the player he is- I don't see him increasing his scoring by 13 points per game in the years ahead! He'll have games where he scores 30 odd points, but then he'll have just as many where he only scores 10- that's the kind of player he is.

LOVE Gallo. Glad he's finding success in Denver. I really would've liked to keep him, but that's how it goes when Dolan gets involved.

He'll be 28 when this deal goes and right in the prime. Even if "only" makes another 11 mil a year he would have made like 90mil in his career.

Say after expenses and taxes and does not procreate with mad abandon outside of a marriage he can walk away with 30+ mil without buying Briggs type stocks!

Decent investment return he won't have to worry about money. His celeberty in Italy will only increase as would endorsements.

I hope he has a long and healthy career! Bravo Gallo!

How am I biased? I like gallo, I just think people over rate him- is it really realistic to think gallo will average 30pts per game? Sure he improved each year, and that was fun to watch, but his scoring has stayed steady- also while he became great at drawing fouls, his 3pt shooting has declined. Players are pretty much what they are by their fifth year, sure they hone their skills a bit but they rarely radically improve.
