Malik Rose... Man that would've sucked.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/story/166606p-145778c.html
NEARLY GONE: Kurt Thomas nearly got a chance to play next to Tim Duncan, but a deal for Malik Rose fell apart. The Spurs are claiming that the deal was nearly completed but that the Knicks failed to respond to the league in time to finalize it.
If anyone knows of a SMART Knicks forum, with lots of activity, and minus people like PLAYA... holla at your boy.

I posted the exact same comment on another board.

It makes you wonder what Isiah was thinking. Rose's contract is terrible:

My guess is that it means that Kurt won't be re-signed. But why take on Rose's contract?

That would have been horrible. I don't see where that would have helped now or in the future - IT gettin' a little trigger happy I guess. Anyway, as Rich mentioned maybe it is a sign that Thomas won't be back - is Isaiah counting on Sheed?

I was wondering the same thing. Does anyone know what Isiah's reasoning is on why this deal would have helped us? Rose is nearly the same as Thomas, only shorter and not as good really. There must have been more players involved in this deal or draft picks or something, but this deal seems bad anyway you look at it.

Does anyone think that the Knicks didn't respoond in time because the deal sucked for us? Also....possibly the Spurs are leaking this so KT gets pissed...opts out of his contract after this year and returns home to Texas to play for the Spurs without them having to trade for him?

You don't leak that you were trying to trade a player of yours without a reason.

The NBA is 85% mental you do the math.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I actually like Malik's game. But I wouldn't trade kurt. Malik would make a pretty good packup pf

By BRIGGS:
the deal was done Kurt Thomas for Malik rose and their number 1 pick--which would be in the end of the first round and it appears Jimmy Dolan nixed it. Why didnt he nix the Van Horn deal:<(

Even if we got SA's first round pick that deal wouldn't have made much sense unless Sheed was absolute lock to come to NY under any circumstances.

Rose is quite a ball player. I dont think "undersized pf" is very descriptive of him at all. He tore apart Phoenix in the playoffs last year. The type of guy that you forget about, and that's why he can kill you.

He's listed at 6'7". That is undersized for a PF.

I dont think being undersized has nething to do with it. Elton Brand is listed at 6'8 and he's making due. And before any1 else says it, I'm not comparing malik and elton...u just cant. All i'm saying is size isnt always everything...kurt showed us that last year at center.

That would have been a good move....regardless of size, Malik rose is a banger and post up player..something the Knicks desperately needs right now.

he also runs the court well and doesn't give any stupid fouls....and seeing how Thomas as an eye for talent, the Spurs #1 pick would have been nice, seeing how the Knicks have no picks in this upcoming draft

You would have to wonder why the champion spurs would want to make this deal If malik is better than Thomas.I'm glad we didn't make this trade.for 1. Malik has a big contract and 2. giving up two good shooters in Van Horn and Doleac case and not having Thomas 10ft set shot we would have been in a whole lot of trouble.
