“I don’t like to be punked and I think that’s where the frustration set in,” Anthony said. “It started trickling down. Maybe it was my fault that the frustration set in. I apologize to my teammates for that. I don’t like being in situations like that. I don’t know how to handle punked situations too well.”

“You can’t compare our team to Denver’s team,” Anthony said. “They got five starters from that trade. Denver’s a hell of a team. They’re one of the deeper teams in the NBA right now. We just want to go out and win (Saturday). It’s not about Denver. It’s much more about us.”

Amar’e Stoudemire, who scored 15 points but was shut out in the fourth quarter, spent two minutes alone on the bench after the final buzzer sounded. At this time last year he was the King of New York, and the Knicks appeared to be a team on the rise. Now, they are 6-9 with home losses to Toronto, Charlotte, Phoenix and now Milwaukee, which had lost its previous three games and had been 0-8 on the road.

“I was just trying to figure out how to get us back to what we once were,” Stoudemire said. “This is definitely not pretty right now.”

Anthony challenged his teammates to “man up” and called the Denver game a “must win.”

“Me personally, I have nothing to prove in the game,” Anthony added. “I spent 71/2 years in Denver. I did a lot in Denver. I have nothing to prove. I just want to win the basketball game.”

“They got five starters from that trade"

Gee Melo, ya think that maybe you could have waited and joined the Knicks as a free agent instead of whining for a trade?? Then just maybe you would have a little more talent around you now?? Did that cross your mind?? Hmmmmm ????

Carmelo Anthony made the quote. He's the one that said this about the trade.

Oh and Mozgov is a starter since he, you know, starts.

i wont be surprised if that is the advice he gave Dwight Howard,...
the money wont mean much, because after the year, they can get a greater raise vs a sign and trade then extend.
If he has an opt out contract and intends to, it would mean even less...

From the third book of Terminator: "Anger is more useful than despair" I'd rather see Melo lose his cool than sit on the bench with a towel over his head. At least it shows he still cares, not to mention he apologized. What I want to see now is for Melo to translate that anger into something more productive like trying to be a better captain.

How many years in a row has this team had a must win game so early in the season?

This game is about Melo seeing the results of his actions. EwOakStarkMas said it best. It is that simple. We are F'd because Melo wanted his money and now he has to deal with "You Reap what you Sow". He could have just waited and walked here.

I do hope that Melo hears the Gallo chants and I hope Gallo goes off. Yes, I am a Knicks fan, but being a Knicks fan is not about rooting for them no matter what, just like being an American isn't about going along with the wars or other bad decisions the government makes. Tonights game is a message game. If we eat it it's on Melo, and if we can somehow win, then great, keep it up guys, don't just do it cause of this one team and Melo being on a mission.

I understand why some great posters rarely post after that trade. I was upset but hoped for the best. No more, it's clear we are pretty bad and banking on a bulging disk PG to turn things around.

Mozgov starts for the Nuggets.

Its cosmetic. Besides that, Gallo is the only former Knicks really contributing. The Nuggs were deep before the trade ans they are deep now. Harrington, Miller, Birdman and Brewer all come off the bench for the Nuggs and would start for most teams.

Well i agree that melo should look in the mirror. I mean if he wanted to be a knicks he could have waited without having dolan destroy this team. Now people see why Donnie didn't want to mkae this move and why he left

It's strange- that Melo trade did more damage to the old loyal fanbase, than all those years and transactions of IT. I wasn't even as enamored with Gallo as most people, but I really struggled to keep my interest going with the Knicks after it.

Ya i think when isiah made all thos stupid moves the knicks were bad anyway. When dolan made this last move the knicks were better and had chemistry. I'm not saying they were a contender but they just need a center

I think the Knicks being home and practicing all the time is actually hurting them. Too much over-thinking. Can't wait for them to get on the road and just play basketball. I bet they play better tonight since its the 2nd night or a back to back

I said it when it happened, and I'll say it now: This will go down as the worst trade ever.

Melo didn't force the Knicks to do anything, Dolan did. If we waited longer we may have gotten him for less or maybe not at all. At the end of the day Melo is a premier player and one of the best in the game. He's playing like crap right now but so are others around the league. I for one don't like that 66 games are being crammed together. Things would be different with a full training camp and more than a damn practice per week.

It takes time to learn other players tendancies. Look at all the new players we have for god sakes! Bibby, Chandler, Jordan, Lin, Novak, Shumpert, Harrelson and Davis. 2 new players in the starting line up in Chandler & Shumpert along with STAT and Melo still trying to figure things out.
