After this loss to the Suns, I had this idea. You know how when a team needs a3point play at the end of the game ,they'll go to the free throw line, make one and miss second one on purpose. My idea is to make it into a strategy throughout the game, when we go to shoot free throws, after the first shot(hopefully a make) we bounce the second one off of the backboard on purpose, as strong as we can, since the opposition will have more defenders under the glass we should have more ppl in the backcourt ready to catch this the ball. We can create some plays right off of that rebound, we should have good position right underneath the hoop with our bigs in scoring position. What kind of rules are there to stop this from being a viable strategy? With our quality bigs I think that the worst thing is losing the ball and not scoring one measly extra point, the best case scenario is a 4 point play( 1 from original free throw, 2 points from one of our bigs scoring,and 1 more from our bigs getting fouled) What do you think?

How old are you? The ball has to hit the rim.

The reason they have a "Top of the key circle" is Wilt Chamberlin used to run and jump before the foul line an dunk. Not sure if he did this all the time as it would get you tired, but thats why they have a Free Throw Circle.

If all you had hit was the back board, the second Foul shot he could have just lobbed, off, then dunk for a potential 4 pt play (back end of an end one.

So bounce it off the rim instead of the backboard.

It would not bounce far enough and high enough to give advantage to those outside the paint. Also would be more difficult to control the direction of it after the bounce. If done properly it would require some rule changes probably.
